Seth had asked her out. Lilac felt as giddy as a schoolgirl with her first crush. By her age, he was by no means her first crush, but this was definitely something strong forming. The Teppenpaw Head of House could have stayed with him forever, and when she wasn’t, her mind brought him to her. However, now was not the time for these thoughts, no matter how pleasing they were.
So anyway.
Lilac thought highly of most of her lesson plans, but this one topped the others. It was amazing, if she did say so herself, and if she had been a sixth year, Transfiguration would have been her favorite class. The brunette wondered what sort of lessons she could ever come up with even comparable to this.
The last time her advanced class met, she informed them that their next class--which would be occurring today--would meet at the Labyrinth Gardens. She stood waiting, though she was not alone. Her partner-in-crime (AKA Donovan Cohen, with his knowledge to make sure the students remained safe) was with her, and she did enjoy his presence.
Soon enough, she began to see the sixth years gathering and coming towards her, and to make sure they knew it was her, she cried cheerfully, “Over here for advanced Transfiguration! Yoohoo!” and waved like a maniac. Wind whipped her brown hair into her grey eyes, and she, frustrated by this, swatted it away, though the strands returned immediately thereafter.
Once she was pretty sure everybody had gathered, Lilac began to speak. “Privet! Welcome, welcome, class!” the twenty-seven year old grinned. “Don’t bother sit on the grass because soon we will be moving into the Gardens. In one of the courtyards is set up for us today.”
“Firstly, however, a brief overview: Today we will be using the spell Draconifors. Everyone repeat that.” She paused to allow her order to either be carried out or ignored. “This spell will turn statues of dragons into real, live dragons. Therefore, here is our amazing Care of Magical Creatures professor to explain to you some dragon safety. Ladies and gents, Donovan Cohen!”
Don was pretty much on stand-by for the class that day, which wasn’t anything he minded. Since his particular coursework involved a lot of pulling of strings and extra guests from time to time to get particular creatures brought in, it was nice to be on the visiting end of a lesson for once. And besides that, Lilac’s bubbly nature was sure to make it a fun use of his time instead of grading papers. “First and foremost, dragons are one of the most dangerous creatures anyone can work with, and even a Transfigured one should be taken seriously, so please notify Lilac or myself or anyone nearby the second a problem should arise."
“With that said, be aware of your surroundings and cautious of everyone’s dragons. If you run into a tight spot, move slowly and don’t get too close, and be ready to dodge or cast a water Charm if you’re dealing with a fire-breather. Stuns aimed at their noses, eyes, or any of their joints should knock them off guard long enough for you to get away.” With that he nodded at Lilac to let her know he was finished giving his crash course on dragon safety. He was slightly tempted to start giving more facts on dragons like he was programmed to do with any creature thanks to the class he taught, but otherwise he thought he hit the basics well enough.
Upon the signal that Don was finished--a nod sufficing as such--the brunette professor began to applaud, hoping to lead the class into doing so as well. “And that’s the basics! Let’s all be sure to thank Professor Cohen for taking the time to make sure this all goes well!” Her grey eyes scanned the class to re-check that everyone had arrived. “Let’s head into the Gardens!”
One strive at a time, the half-Russian led her group through the maze and to the courtyard designated for the lesson. Numerous dragon statues--though not as many as the professor would have liked--decorated the lawn, life-sized but not moving. At least, not yet.
“Everybody still with us?” she hollered out. “Good! Unfortunately, we have to share dragons, so two to a dragon if you could. Remember, Draconifors is the incantation. Allow me to demonstrate.” Lilac drew her wand and focused her drooping eyes intensely on the statue before her. She made sure not to stand too close for her safety’s sake, and, swiping her wand through the air, shouted, “Draconifors!” A ball of bright fire shot out of her wand and crashed into the dragon statue, which then came to life, roaring lightly and breathing fire into the air. With a nonverbal spell, she ended the previously cast one, and the dragon returned to its solid statue form.
“Do we all understand? Professor Cohen will be here if you need help in regards to safety, and I’m here in case you need help with the incantation. “Go ahead and pair up. One person go first, then call me and I’ll Untransfigure it for the second person to go. Let’s get started!”
OOC: Okay, you’re smart little authors, so please follow rules and stuff. Nobody likes them, but everybody needs them. If you need help, feel free to tag me or Don. Try not to get eaten or something, because that would be very, very bad. Also, feel free to assume Lilac came by and Untransfigured the dragons when you’re ready for the second person to go. Be creative, and happy posting!

Maybe it was because he was in the Advanced Class now, and the subject material was much harder and she'd ceased calling them 'kiddos' and 'dears', but Daniel was finding Professor Crosby less irritating than he had the previous year. She was still very clearly insane, but he'd come to expect that to some degree from most of the professors here, so he wrote off most of her fashion sense and excessive enthusiasm as eccentricities and just focused on the transfiguration materials. It helped immensely with his own level of sanity.
Or, it did until he found out that today's lesson was transfiguring dragon statues into live dragons. He had dropped Care of Magical Creatures with a vengeance at the opportunity to do so, and that was largely because the RATS level creatures were going to start getting dangerous and he didn't like danger. Creatures like dragons were dangerous because they couldn't be reliably predicted, and he didn't like things that weren't predictable.
Despite his reservations, though, he moved in front of one of the statues when instructed to do so. He was an Aladren and he would do the assignment regardless of his personal feelings on it, and if he died, his ghost was totally suing the school for everything it was worth. It probably wouldn't come to that though. There were two teachers on hand, including the Care of Magical Creatures professor, and there had been a safety lecture, so he was assured they were taking the danger seriously.
Sometimes, he wasn't sure if magical-born witches and wizards could even do that.
Looking around, he tried to find an equally prudent partner to work with. Fortunately, theoretically, most of the sixths years who had decided to continue with Transfiguration at a RATS level should meet this criteria, so he found one that wasn't yet obviously paired up and asked, "Do you still need a partner?"
