Irene held onto Brett and Elly's arm as the chain of Pecaris raced into the Gardens. Once onto the grassy lawn, Irene let go of her friends arms, falling onto the grass so she was staring up at the sky. Her arms were spead out and her brown hair spilled onto the grass.
"So who wants to be captains?" Irene asked the group at large. "I nominate Brett and Mr. Other Guy because they sort of started this," she lifted her head from the ground, looking up at the other first year boy. "Sorry, I don't know your name," She said apologetically.
"So," she said, pushing herself up into a sitting position, "any other nominations?"
Finally! Something my muggle mind understands!
by Hyana Kamiya
Hyana had been in the Gardens a lot lately. So much that her pale skin had a slight tan. Well, after the sunburns went away. Today she was reading a book. She had finally gotten a chance to read this one. It was a muggle book. It was about these two kids who were secretly crushing on each other, and the whole school knew it. So in the school play, they cast the two of them as Romeo and Juliet.
Hyana was deep into the book. It was time for the kissing scene! Closer and closer and closer...their lips were almost touching now...almost!
"So who wants to be captains?" A voice broke through Hyana's concentration. Captains? That couldn't be right...they were in the gardens. They couldn't be playing Quidditch. There weren't any brooms. But they had...could it be?
A soccer ball! Hyana had already closed and stuffed her book into her bag when Irene said, "So, any other nominations?" Hyana walked over to the group. Her hair fell halfway over her face. She saw Elly, Echo and Brett there as well. She really wanted to play...but the group was all Pecari's.
"Ummmm...I-I don't have a nomination, but I was wondering if...if I could play." Hyana ended in a squeak. Group speaking...not good. "I understand that you guys are all from Pecari, so if you don't want me to play..."

Because I forgot earlier... [tag: Elly, Brett, Echo, Derek]
by Irene
OOC: Hi, Hyana! Sorry, I forgot to post the [tag: people] thing =\\ This is being played off from the Pecari Common room. We're playing soccer and currently need another player to make it even. So I'll just have Irene fill you in =]
Irene looked around as a new voice came up closely to her.
"Ummmm...I-I don't have a nomination, but I was wondering if...if I could play." The girl looked nervous and Irene gave her credit for coming over if she was shy.
Irene grinned and nodded, "Sure! In fact, you make it an even number!" Irene had heard mention of this girl from other people. She was apparently very nice and, Aladren, right? Irene looked to the others for approval. She didn't want to just take charge of the group. But it was mean to leave her just standing there...
"I understand that you guys are all from Pecari, so if you don't want me to play..."
Irene shook her head, not seeing why this would be a problem anyway. "Don't be silly," Irene said. "We could use another player. I'm Irene," she said.
Turning to the rest of the group, Irene looked around the gardens. "So Elly, where are those goal-post-like bushes you mentioned?"
0IreneBecause I forgot earlier... [tag: Elly, Brett, Echo, Derek]0Irene05
So everyone linked up with that older girl, Elly, and ran out together. Well, Derek wasn't part of the link, so he just trailed behind. Okay, he would be the loser, so what? What else was new? Maybe someone would have grabbed his hand if he took his head out of the books or something at the beginning of the year. His hair fell into his face thanks to the wind as he walked out. Derek set it back again and followed until they finally got to the Gardens.
Maybe he should have just taken a jog alone. That would have been easier. Derek was not a shy boy, but he disliked crowds. Even of only a few people. Especially if they all were chummy with each other. He had no fear of crowds, just disliked them. He was able to deal with them in sports. It was just that, in crowds, not everyone got an equal vide of attention. That wasn't fair. Derek liked everything to be fair and even.
When Derek finally made it to his spot, a girl in his year he knew as Irene, was speaking about Captians. "I nominate Brett and Mr. Other Guy because they sort of started this," Mr. Other Guy? Derek held back a scowl and kept the blank look on his face. They'd been in the same house, the same year, the same classes together for over half a term. Just because he tended to stay hidden while he got his classes down certainly didn't mean no one should know who he was. Especially someone in his own house. Minded, Elly and the boy she hung around, Echo, were older so they had more a reason not to know him but...
Well, Derek paid almost too close attention in class. Maybe no one else did? But the Irene girl could have at least asked his name before referring to him as Mr. Other Guy. That was more ignorance than anything. "Derek," he answered simply just as another girl came up to them. She was in a different house, but Derek remembered her. He flipped through his mind for a name. Something foreign, eastern he believed. He remembered Ana was part of it, in his mind he just called her that.
"You'll make things even," Derek said, smiling at Ana. And since no one else here but Brett knew his name, he guessed the girl-he-called-Ana wouldn't either. "And I'm Derek, by the way."
"I'm coming, I'm coming," Echo laughed as Elly dragged him by the sleeve out of the Pecari common room. Elly had Irene, too, and Irene had Brett by his soccer ball laden arm. Brett was grinning like crazy excitement. As the others started running, Brett reached back and grabbed Derek by the wrist and the chain of them ran down to the gardens. Brett hopped over Irene to keep from tripping over her as she sprawled on the Labrynth Gardens grass.
Brett and Derek were nominated to play as Hyana came over and joined them. Irene was quick to make her welcome.
"Hey," Echo greeted her with a wave. Hyana sat next to him in Astronomy, plus she was a fellow Furious Noveller and a great person to sit with at quidditch games, too. You wouldn't guess it, but that girl could yell.
Brett hopped a little away from the group to assume a position as team captain. "Echo and I shouldn't be on the same team. It wouldn't be fair," he advised. They played a lot of soccer at home.
"You just want a good goalie to shoot at," Echo accused lightly.
"Yeah, so? I'll take Irene," Brett said. Nope, he wasn't playing crushes at all. "You're turn, Derek."
Cheer up! You would've been in the line if I were faster.

Brett hopped a little away from the group to assume a position as team captain. "Echo and I probably shouldn't be on the same team. It wouldn't be fair," he advised. They played a lot of soccer at home so they weren't just pretty good at it, they were also used to playing together.
"You just want a good goalie to shoot at," Echo accused lightly.
"Yeah, so? I'll take Irene," Brett said. Nope, he wasn't playing crushes at all. Next he'd probably take Elly because he knew she played field hockey. Or maybe Hyana because she was all martial arty. They were all good choices really -- well, good for non-soccer people anyway. "Your turn, Derek."

Irene noticed the boy, who had introduced himself as Derek, didn't seem very happy with her comment. She felt bad, thinking he may have missed the 'sorry' part. She didn't mean to be... well, mean, but maybe it had come across like that. Not far from Derek the Captain was Brett, who stood a little away from the group, taking the role as the other Captian.
"Echo and I probably shouldn't be on the same team. It wouldn't be fair,"
Okay, fair enough. That's probably a good idea. She knew that Brett played soccer a lot back where he lived and, she assumed, Echo probably did too.
"You just want a good goalie to shoot at," Echo said, but not in a serious way. "Yeah, so?" Irene laughed as she watched the friends with her blue-green eyes. Maybe they were on a soccer team together...
"I'll take Irene," Brett said. Yes! Irene grinned at him and stood to go stand by him, pulling her hair up into a ponytail as she went. It wasn't that she was hoping for a certain team captain, except she kind-of definitely was...
"Hey, Captain," she said with a smile, standing next to him. "Come here often?" Irene was so excited for this game! So what if she hasn't played in many many years? This was for fun. That and bragging rights! It was Derek's turn to pick and Irene shut up for a bit to hear who they were going to be up against.

by Elly Eriksson
Elly had led them all to the clearing where those four bushes mapped out the goals in a small-ish pitch. “Ta-da!” she said as Irene sprawled herself on the ground. She did notice upon arrival that the other kid (whose name was Derek, she soon found out) got a bit left behind. That probably wasn’t fair seeing as it had been him and Brett that started this, but then Irene named him captain, which Elly hoped would help.
Hyana joined them, too. Irene welcomed her, and Elly threw her a great big grin. Part of her wondered how Echo and Hyana would survive playing a sport where there was the danger of physical contact. Maybe they could both be in goal?
Then Brett and Derek started picking teams. Elly noticed that they could have had boys vs. girls, but it was probably better to split up Echo and Brett, like they’d said, seeing as they’d had a lot of practice playing together at Sundance. Noticing that Irene had tied her hair up, Elly did the same. It was long enough to tie back in a ponytail again now, having grown out a bit since Mere cut it before midterm.
Elly waited to be picked. She didn’t mind if she was last. She knew Brett wouldn’t pick Echo, so she’d either be on a team with Brett and Irene or Derek or Echo, and Hyana would be on the other. Elly hoped that Brett picked Hyana so she and Echo could both have the option of being in goal if they wanted. She hadn’t played football for a couple of years, now, but she thought she could manage, even if she wasn’t up to Brett’s standard.
OOC: RL is busy right now, so I’ll try & keep up but don’t feel like you need to wait for me to post.

So Derek was a Captian of this mini soccer thing, okay cool. And he already had Brett's one friend on his side, since the two played soccer together a lot, apparently. Brett picked the Irene girl first and now it was Derek's turn again. He looked around. The older girl, Elly, and the Aladren girl, Hyana. He finally remembered her name, but stuck to calling her Ana in his head.
"Okay then," he said, looking at the two. "I'll take An-Hyana-then." Whoops, he'd almost called her Ana out loud. That would have been a pretty stupid mistake. He looked at Brett with the soccer ball and the Irene girl. They seemed pretty close. The older girl would have to join them then. That made a three-on-three game. One goalie, one offense, and one defense per team. Or two offense and one goalie? Whatever.
Derek looked at Echo and gave a nervous smile. "I'll let you know now my specialty is more net sports," he stated simply. "I'm not too good at soccer, especially not compared to volleyball." For some odd reason he liked team sports like volleyball better than tennis or badmitton, but not crowds. Derek was just odd like that. An odd loser, he liked it. As long as no one else called him that.
Echo moseyed over to Derek's team and soon Hyana joined them too. That was cool. All the loud, outgoing, touchy-feely people were together, and all the quieter, crowd-wary people were together. That meant no high fives or team huddles or hugs over here. Excellent. Well, truth be know, Echo wasn't sure if Derek fit with that introvert description in reality or if he just sorta seemed like he did today. He also sort of wondered if he himself could still be called an introvert... he did run a Novelling Club and talked to people and stuff. That was pretty crazy extroverted, right?
"I'll let you know now my specialty is more net sports," Derek warned him, confirming his introvertedness by being worried about something like this, "I'm not too good at soccer, especially not compared to volleyball."
"Hey, no worries," Echo assured him. He sure wasn't going to go and get all over-competitive about it. Brett, well, maybe, but probably not since he was so happy just to have six people kicking a ball around. Plus, Brett was probably more worried about converting everyone present into rabid soccer fanatics then he was about winning. Actually, that was another good point of assurance for Derek: "I'm not even sure everyone knows how to play." he raised his voice a smidge so everyone could hear, "Should we go over the rules first or are we good?"

Irene watched as Derek picked his team member. If he picked Hyana then Irene's team would get Elly. If he picked Elly, they would get Hyana and Echo. Simple.
"I'll take An-Hyana-then."
Irene suddenly had the strongest urge to call Hyana "Hyana-Banana" from now on. Irene guessed it was the extra "An" sound when Derek had said it. Irene messed up on names all. the. time. She would never forget the time she had called her cousin, for crying out loud, her own cousin, "Rhiley". Renaye, Rhiley? Sort of, kind of close, in a way... not really.
Irene turned to Brett and Elly and said, "I think we need a strategy, and then a name."
Irene was all for the Matrix Crew and had no idea where she had come up with it. Maybe Elly wouldn't know what the Matrix was... She was pretty sure Brett knew. He was into the muggle stuff.
"Should we go over the rules first or are we good?"
Irene turned around to see that it was Echo who had spoken. "Get the ball in the other team's goal. Don't kill anyone," Irene said smiling.

Hyana sighed in relief. They actually wanted her to play! Irene didn't mind one bit, and Derek said that she would make things even. "Thanks." She replied happily. Finally, they would be playing a muggle sport! She needed that.
"Hey." Echo greeted her with a wave. Hyana smiled and gave a small wave back. It was kind of odd being the only Aladren there, but no one seemed to mind. Elly gave her a big grin, and no one seemed upset that she was there.
It was time to pick teams. As Hyana predicted, the first person Brett chose was Irene. And she seemed really happy about it. Hyana resisted a girly, 'Awwwwwwww', because she didn't want to humiliate them. But they were cute together.
I'll take An-Hyana-then." Derek said. Hyana was surprised. She wasn't left last, like she was at muggle school. That was a nice change of things. She walked over to Derek, somewhat amused. He almost called her Anna or something. Echo was there too. That was good. She knew Echo.
"Should we go over the rules first or are we good?" Echo asked. She wondered why they would need to go over the rules. Didn't everyone here know how to play soccer? Wasn't that why they had come out? Of course, they probably didn't know she was muggleborn. Ah well. Irene's explanation was pretty much to the point, even if it did make her laugh.
"I'm good Echo." She replied. She smiled at her team, ready to begin.
0HyanaAnd in april, june and all throughout may0Hyana05
"I'm good Echo." Hyana-Banana replied to Echo. Irene looked around at the teams to see if anyone else had questions and/or suggestion and whatnot...
"Anyone?" Irene said. When all appeared safe Irene said, "Okay! Play ba--" Irene paused, remembering a small detail. "Or, you know, meet with your teams..."
Soccer was something that Irene hoped she would do well in. She wished that she had been able to play more sports when she was little. Even now, since she was very skinny from the years of living with Dad, she wasn't very fit for most sports that she liked to play. Man, Dad really did ruin everything... Irene shook those thought from her head, banning all of those depressing thoughts from her head.
"So," she said, turning back to Brett and Elly. "How are we going to win this?"
And you'll never be good no matter what you say!
by Caedence
OOC: Nice one Hyana, I love Brian Something-or-other (forgot the last name)! Great comedian. Watched his comedy bit last night, actually…
BIC: Caedence was minding her own business and not getting into trouble. Which was a huge change from her normal of getting into mischief and getting into fights. So, needless to say, she was bored out of her mind. She hadn’t hung around the common room for a while, and she hadn’t been on the pitch for a while either. Reading books just didn’t sound appealing (did she look like an Alarden?) and she wasn’t going to go exploring right now. She wasn’t in the ‘exploring’ mood.
So she was pleased to stumble upon what looked like a soccer game. She was envious of them all. She never got to play soccer at home. All the kids were scared of her, and the ones that weren’t just wanted to pick fights. She had watched, from a safe distance, and learned most of the rules.
Before she could speak up, Hyana joined. She winced at the stuttering. Well, now the teams were even, she should probably go, then. But after the teams were divvied up, they talked about rules.
She faded out of the shadows, “Hey, Irene, Echo, Brett, Elly, Hyana… umm,” she looked at Derek, “And Derek, right?” she guessed, sure that she heard his name. “I’ve been watching, and you guys should have a ref. I used to watch the kids play soccer, but I’m no good. But I sorta know the rules and I could be a ref for you guys,” she grined wolfishly, “After all, who wants to argue with me?” She joked, knowing that most of them would get it. The others would probably just smile and nod vacantly. Her legacy as ’most likely to become criminal’ in the yearbook seemed to have faded off somewhat. She’d have to work on that. “What do you say?” \n
0CaedenceAnd you'll never be good no matter what you say!94Caedence05
Derek smiled slightly when Irene responed back to Echo's loud statement. It was fun to think of this, maybe he'd actually make some friends here? He turned back to Echo and Ana. "So, you know, what's the strategy? Whose playing what?" He remembered what Echo teased at Brett. A good goalie to play against.
"Echo, you said you were a good goalie," Derek smiled. "And I think me and Ana-Hyana..." stumble "... can do what kick and get it in," Derek shrugged. "Unless either of you have a better idea? Like I said, I'm not much of a soccer person."
Then that scary second year girl, Caedence or something, came up to them. Derek had heard some people talk of her, say she was sharp toungued. Hm, she wasn't so sharp from where he stood. Derek smiled at her, "Sure, we could use a good ref. Sure you don't wanna play? It really doesn't matter if the teams are even," Derek offered. Urgh, really he hated when things were uneven, but he was able to pass that.
OOC: Thanks Caede! I love that one comedy bit, stupid in school. Like me in math! Anyway...
BIC: Out of nowhere, Caedence had appeared. Hyana tried not to squeak, but she couldn't really help it. Did Caedence hear her stutter? Derek had decided to make Echo goalie, which was fine with Hyana.
"You'd make a good goalie." She complemented Echo. Well, it wasn't so much a complement as an assumption. She smiled at the rest of Derek's plan. She wasn't a big soccer person either, since she preferred Volleyball, but hey, soccer was the next best thing.
"That sounds good Derek. And my name is He-Ah-nah." She sounded it out for him. "But you can keep calling me Ana-Hyana if you want, I don't mind it one bit. Actually, I kinda like it." She laughed. Then Derek decided to address Caedence, who wanted to ref.
"I...uh...oh..." Hyana found herself saying, as Caedence spoke. "I mean, it'd be great if you played ref Caedence!" She fought past her stuttering. "You're probably a great ref, and know a lot of the rules and stuff." She looked around, and forcing herself to be brave, called, "Is that everybody who wants to join?"
Nobody kill anybody and this will be fine.
by Elly
Once the teams had been picked, Elly hopped over to join Brett and Irene. “I think we need s strategy, and then a name,” Irene said. Then to Echo’s question, she added, “Get the ball in the other team’s goal. Don’t kill anyone.”
“Well that sound like a good strategy to me,” Elly said, grinning. “Unless either of you have a burning desire to be goalie, I suggest we take it in turns,” she said. “I don’t mind going first.”
Elly’s head jerked up then at the sound of Caedence’s voice. Where had she come from? She wanted to be referee for their game. Elly couldn’t help but smile. This was definitely good for Caedence – she didn’t often seem to want to join in with things. Her being ref meant that she was less likely to injure someone, too, and she was right – nobody would argue with her decision. Derek consented to her joining, and even suggested she play. Elly had already thought that maybe she could swap with Caedence in a short while, and Caedence could play while Elly umpired.
Though Elly felt the talking and sorting had gone on too long now. “C’mon, let’s get started,” she said to Brett. “You two just score goals, okay?” She grinned at them and took her place between the two bushes. The one on her left was smaller with prickly-looking bits. Elly made a mental note not to dive to hard into that one – her shorts and vest-top combo didn’t make for good skin coverage. She readied herself for the game to begin.
OOC: Irene, in RL I really do call my cousin Ana-Banana!

“Unless either of you have a burning desire to be goalie, I suggest we take it in turns,” she said. “I don’t mind going first.”
Irene thought that was a good idea. She liked scoring goals compared to blocking them anyway. Good plan. Irene nodded in response to the suggestion.
“You two just score goals, okay?”
"Alrighty then!" Irene said, heading towards the center of the... field-like-area. Derek welcomed Caedence to ref and/or play. Good thing too. They probably would need a ref at some point.
"Hey," she said to the group. "Let's flip a coin and get this going!" Irene looked to Caedence, "Have a coin or something?"
Caedence smiled a bit. This was going to be good. She was actually going to relax for once and play soccer. She knew that Elly, who had made it her life’s mission to make Caedence into a tame normal girl, was probably happy that she was joining. Plus, her pupil was trying to be brave. It was a step up. Maybe by the time Caedence left Sonora Hyana would be well into following in her footsteps.
She nodded at Irene, “Yeah I got a coin,” she said pulling out a quarter from her pocket. It was her favorite because it was made in the year she was born. “Okay, I’m gonna flip this quarter… olay, I’ll try and flip it, but I’m not good at it. If it lands heads up, it’s Brett’s team that gets to kick off. Tails, it’s Derek.” She looked at them both, “Umm if there’s like hand shaking or whatever, you can do it now I guess…” She mumbled.
She put the coin on her thumb over a closed fist. Taking a deep breath, hoping she didn’t mess it up, Caedence flipped it off her thumb. The coin sort of half-heartedly flip-flopped, turning a couple times. So what, it wasn’t a beautiful toss, but it was good enough. Caedence glanced down to see the coin laying tails up. “Okay, Derek, your team kicks off. Now you should all know the rules, really, just play nice and… oh gods I’m sounding like Fox. Just go,” Caedence sighed and put the ball in the center. She backed away and motioned for the kick off. Now she was to watch for fouls. \n
0Caedenceoky, let's start this thing...94Caedence05
Tails. Derek's team was going to kick off and then this game would start! “Okay, Derek, your team kicks off. Now you should all know the rules, really, just play nice and… oh gods I’m sounding like Fox. Just go,”
Irene laughed and headed over to her own side of the field, ready to recieve the ball if it was kicked her way. Irene wished the twins were here. Raye and Josh always added something to a game somehow. Irene remembered when she was playing seeker by the pond and, somehow, Renaye had found herself in the pond. How? No idea. It must have had to do with Josh's grin that had been on his face... Renaye was not happy and the next game, Josh ended up in the pond. Smiling at the memory, Irene returned her focus to the field.
Brett smirked at Elly's strategy. Hey, that worked for him just fine. Get goals. Don't kill anyone. Excellent. He stood back and let the other kids talk to Caedence. He'd never really talked to her, but she seemed uber competitive like awesomeness, so good. Elly took the goal and their new ref backed away from the ball.
He waited for someone else to make the first move, just to make sure he didn't start too early. As soon as one of the kids on the other team took half a step he shot forward and kicked the ball towards Irene and shot through the enemy line. With only two forwards and a goalie, it was going to be so easy to get offsides in this game. He moved up the field on the side so Irene would have a clear, legal, pass to him in case she succeeded in keeping the ball long enough to kick it back.
"Irene! Open!" shouted, to let her know where he was.\r\n\r\n
Echo ran to his goal bushes and paced them off. It was a decent sized goal, about halfway between a kiddie goal and a real one. Good. He stood in front and waited. He didn't have any goalie gloves today, hadn't thought to bring them to Sonora, so between that, wearing glasses, and the lack of cleats, it felt a little weird.
Okay, wait. Wearing glasses--his only pair of normal seeing glasses (as opposed to his reading glasses)--was probably not smart. As the people down in midfield started the game, he glanced around for somewhere safe to stash them. He stuck them carefully in the center of one of the bushes. Assuming he could find them again, they'd be protected in there.
Well, now he couldn't exactly tell what was going on down the field--he was more used to his glasses than he'd realized. Brett, fortunately, was wearing a bright yellow shirt, so he was easy -- which made everyone else a simple process of elimination. Brett came offsides through Hyana and Derek line and swung around to the side. Closer, farther? Not sure. He'd know when they came real close.
Echo leaned forward on his knees in the traditional goalie pose and waited.
Irene started forward as the team looked reday to kick off. Before they could get half a step, though, Brett had kicked the ball towards her. He wasn't kidding! He could play! Irene stuck out her foot, trying to keep the ball for going out-of-bounds/offsides/something like that. She took the ball forward towards the other side of the field. Somewhere near her, she heard her name and looked around.
"Irene! Open!
Ah, good boy Brett! At least someone was open. Irene hated that trapped feeling when there is no where to pass the ball. Irene passed the ball (and was slightly proud of herself for remembering to use the inside of her foot) towards Brett and ran ahead so he would have someone to pass to if needed.
Irene looked towards Echo and noticed his glasses were gone. Is that fair? She guessed he must have been okay with it because he was down and ready all goalie-like. From what Brett and Echo had said, she guessed they were both pretty good anyway so she might as well play ball!
Before Hyana knew it, the game had started. She had barely even taken a step towards the ball when Brett took it and passed it to Irene. He wasn't kidding, he could play! Not that his playing ability mattered, as long as the ball didn't get in her team's goal.
She ran after Brett, hoping Derek would take Irene. Brett had already called to Irene, pretty much calling for a pass. Sprinting towards the ball, she stopped the pass with the side of her foot and turned around, heading towards the other goal.
Looking around, she called, "Derek, ball!", then she kicked it towards Derek. Hopefully her kick was accurate. Hyana didn't stop to check. She ran ahead, near the goal, and waited for a pass.
"I'm open!" she called to Derek. She hoped that the ball would be passed to her. She wouldn't be playing goalie, which she would prefer (it's why she liked Keeping the best), but making a goal was the next best thing!
Baseball! Go Tigersss!! *waves foam finger*

Irene silenty swore in her mind as Hyana-Banana seemed to appear from nowhere to steal the ball. Irene ran after her, ready to take the ball back as soon as she could. Hyana went to passed the ball over to Derek and Irene took the chance. She ran forward and turned the ball towards Echo's goal.
It wasn't Quidditch, that was for sure, but soccer was fun! She may not be worthy of the USA team (or the neighborhood team), but playing like this was fun. They should do this more often! Maybe start a once-a-month schedual...
Irene headed towards the goal, looking around for Brett. She spotted him and ran forward for a shorter pass. She called out, "Brett! Heads up!" She kicked the ball towards him and ran forward nearer to the goal.
It was times like these she remembered why she liked being a Chaser when she was Seeking. There was always the possibility of a goal and there was always action. Seeking was amazing and she had the build for it. She was still skinny from the years she spent with her Dad. But right now, soccer was turning out to be something she wasn't failing horribly at. That was good.
0IreneBaseball! Go Tigersss!! *waves foam finger*0Irene05
Irene passed the ball towards Brett with a shout and he intercepted it with ease. It was between him and Echo now, unless Hyana or Derek came out of nowhere. Brett let the ball lead him a bit as he turned in toward the goal. Echo squinted at him and Brett brushed his foot over the ball to dart off to the right, then back to the left. Oh, oh! What now, Echo-man?
Brett grinned widely and switched direction one more time before pelting the ball off the side of his foot. It wasn't a hard shot, but it was accurate and looked like it might sneak by Echo after all, right into the corner... man, if Echo didn't get this one he had the reflexes of an aardvark. But wouldn't it be cool if he didn't? Irene's set up was fantastic. He was so going to tell her that just as soon as this slow motion bit ended and it was either in or not in...

Here came the canary--that was, the yellow shirted Brett. Irene had gotten the ball from Derek and passed it to him. It was time. Echo could imaging the kid grinning like a maniac--not like maniac like Caedence, but like a really big grin. Echo moved a step backward and glanced at his hedge posts so he knew what he was defending.
In typical Brett fashion he was playing with him, even more than usual. The kid was showing off for Irene. In a real game--a game with the Sundance Kids--one of the defenders would have easily gotten the ball away from him as he darted from side to side a predictable three times. The ball shot forward to Echo's left, keeping low to the ground. Echo shifted toward it. It should just be a foot block and he put his foot down right where it should be and...
It swept right past him into the goal.
"How'dchu do that?" he said to the ball. It neglected to dignify that with a response.
Brett whooped and ran over to Irene, "Sweet pass!" and after high fives were exchanged he swung around to for the ball, crowing at Echo, "Hey, come on, check the specs."
"Yeah, yeah," Echo admitted, and passed him the ball. Well, that settled it. As the others set up again at midfield, Echo fished his glasses back out of the bush. So much for that idea; he'd just have to try to keep them safe.\r\n\r\n

Irene watched as Brett took the pass and headed towards the goal. He did a sort of 'I'm-going-right-NO-left!' thing twice before he shot it towards the goal. Irene threw her fist in the air once the ball shot into the net. That was some fancy footwork right there! Brett ran over and Irene slapped his hand.
"Sweet pass!"
Irene grinned and said, "Are you kidding? Nice shot!"
How cool was this game? Brett seemed to think she was doing pretty good which gave her a bit of confidence. Another plus, she hadn't done one of those kick-and-miss things yet! But... now that they had scored what do they do? 'Just smile and nod,' Irene thought. But her question was answered when Echo tossed Brett the ball and he headed towards the middle. Okay, problem solved. Irene stood to the one side and readied herself for the kick-off.
OOC: *sigh* I'm in the same boat as Irene. Don't really know soccer... *looks at subject line* More of a hockey and baseball person! I left it sort of vague so just assume she's in the right spot xD
