Lowly of the Low by Sally

Sally sat by herself in the Gardens. SHe had just had an arguement with Liz, and she had realized something about herself. Something she didn't like at all.

She was everything that that guy TJ had said she was, but she was much, much more. She still had so much anger from her mother leaving her that she couldn't remember that everything wasn't black or white, good or bad. Since she had been abandonded, she forgot that there were shades of gray. And that was coming back to hurt her.

She had been an idiot earlier. She had been blinded by her anger. She had probably been cruel to TJ and Arixios. She didn't know about them, she had just been making blind judgements. She was a hypocrite, and she wanted to fix it. She just didn't have the faintest idea how.

She wished that she could have someone help her, but she doubted anyone would want to. She wished she could go apologize to Liz, and possibly to the other two, but she didn't know how. So she just sat and held back tears unsuccessfully. Finding your true self could be one of the most painful things to do.\n\n

Clearing of Thoughts by Elizabeth

Elizabeth wandered around the gardens, wrapping her arms around herself, wishing that she had a warmer cloak. People in Louisiana don't own thick winter cloaks or anything, it's the South for the love of Merlin! Truth to be told, it wasn't cold temperature-wise, but Elizabeth had never felt so frozen in her life. She was upset, this much was true, but if it was because of her arguement with Sally, or her personal battle she was fighting, Elizabeth couldn't tell.

She turned the corners of the maze silently, not knowing what would await her on the other side, which was very much like her real life was going. In all honesty Elizabeth was lost. She didn't know where to turn, and she was just going by instinct alone. Okay, so life's being complicated, what else is knew? she thought, annoyed at her whoel situation.

Elizabeth turned around another corner, and was faced with a wall. A branch of the maze went directly to the left, and the other directly to the right. There was no space to take a middle of the road route, so acting on impulse, Elizabeth chose the left path, and walked down it until the sound of crying met her ears. She carefully approached the noise, making sure to not let her shoes make that grinding, horrible sound on the gravel path. \n\n

Re: Clearing of Thoughts by Sally

Sally, still attempting to blink back tears, looked up and saw Elizabeth standing there. She didn't know what the other girl was thinking about her at the moment, but Sally figured that now was as good a time as ever to try to start over.

"Look, Liz," she said quietly. "I'm sorry for what I said. It wasn't my place to but in. And I understand now that I'm being just what TJ accused me of.

"I am a hypercrite. I am judgemental. I was an idiot. I forgot that there are shades of gray, that the world isn't just black or white.

"I wish I could start over, but I doubt I can. I wish I could apologize to the other two boys too. So, like I said, I'm sorry. I'll understand if you don't want to forgive me, though."

She looked down at her shoes. If she were Elizabeth, she probably wouldn't forgive herself. But that was the problem. And that was what she needed to change.\n\n

Well by Elizabeth

She looked the girl over. Sally had been telling her to how to live her life, but she'd said she was sorry. Well, isn't that something you've been hearing an awful lot? she thought angrily. Everyone was sorry for something, for being mean, for doing something wrong, for saying something inconsidering, for anything. Elizabeth, frankly, was sick of all of it, but the better part of her took charge and accepted Sally's apology.

"Look, Sally, I forgive you, but you have to know why I got mad at you. All my life, my family has told me what to do, when to do it, who to hang out with, who to see, what not to say! People in my situation either conform to what their parents want, or they go nuts, and since I don't have my parents anymore, Im trying to stay away from the latter!" she sighed, exhausted.
"You just don't understand what it's like to be me, and I dont' understand what its like to live your life, but I know that there are somethings I just need to figure out for myself. I just need some space, from both sides..." \n\n

I undestand by Sally

Sally looked pityingly at the other girl. It did sound like she was going through a lot, much more than herself at the moment. She was glad that Liz accepted her apology, and she knew that Liz really did need to figure out how to do things on her own.

Amd Liz had lost her parents? Golly, that must make everything even worse. Sally had only lost her mom, and that had been bad enough for her. She couldn't imagine losing her father too.

"I understand," Sally replied. "And I'm sorry about your parents. If I had known how you were feeling, I wouldn't have said anything. So I won't bug you about anything. You're right, you do probably need to figure this out yourself. So I won't mention any of it again, unless you bring it up. Good luck, by the way."\n\n

Well by Elizabeth

She turned away from Sally, folding her arms closer to her chest, trying the best she could to fight off the joint feelings of anger and deep sadness. Elizabeth was stronger than crying, it had been five years, she had to let it go. They were gone, and she couldn't do anything about it, so why did it make her mad whenever someone spoke about them? Because you still love them, you never stopped missing them. she answered herself.

"Um, I'll see you later." she mumbled and took off in the direction that she came, trying as hard as she could to keep up her composure. What on earth would her parents say if they saw what she was doing?

If they were still around, they'd want her to be friends with the families the Lavines had been friends with for ages, people like the O'Reillys, the Jackels, the Mathers even- in other words, purebloods. That's what they'd want her to do, so in resolution, Elizabeth decided for herself to follow whatever was left of her parent's influence on her. She wasn't going to be rude, but she'd make her own efforts to seek out friendships with her parents and grandparents friends... \n\n

Leaving by Sally

Sally watched Elizabeth leave. She might have just ruined their friendship, but she couldn't help that. She did know how Liz must have felt, though.

Her mother had left her family when she was around seven years old. Sally hadn't believed it to be possible, at first, but it was true. She still thought it had been her fault. Her mother had been able to go through her five siblings, but when she had her sixth, she just couldn't take it anymore. Plus, she was the one who looked most like their mother, a spitting image.

Sally sighed. Her mother's leaving had nearly killed her father, and he would barely even look at Sally still, because the memories were so painful.

So that was why she passed judgement on others. She didn't want to let people close, because then she could be left again. If you found faults, than you wouldn't be tempted to let them in. And when she did try to make friends, they would only end up leaving her, like Elizabeth was doing now. \n\n
