For twins who seemingly hated each other so much, always fighting, competing and at each other's throats, it was amazing how much time Sorrel and Ash Craven spent in each other's company. It was possible that they were just trying to aggravate the other one, though that would seem to be cutting of their noses to spite their faces.
The two ventured out onto the grounds, eager for something to distract them from their first day's homework. They could always do it later, or tomorrow even... They approached one of the many entrances of the large maze out on the grounds, and immediately went to go opposite ways.
"Sorrel, you're meant to take the lefts in a maze, everyone knows that," said Ash, with a roll of his eyes, as his sister prepared to go right.
"Nuh-uh," she corrected, snatching her arm away as he tried to grab at it. "It's every second left that takes you to the middle."
"It is not."
"Is so."
"It- Fine. You can take your stupid second lefts, I'll do what I want, and then you can send up sparks for my help - if you know how - when you get lost, ok?"
"It'll be you that sends up sparks brother, but you're on," Sorrel nodded, striding down the right turn, as Ash took the left.
Sorrel followed round the twists and turns, only half admiring the gardens, she was too busy hurrying as fast as she could to beat Ash to the middle. She followed her pattern fine for a while, until, when she came to take a second left, she found herself instead at a dead end. Cursing under her breath, she turned to retrace her steps, but found someone staring down the dead end at her...\n\n

Sally Porter liked the quiet. Maybe because she had so many siblings, so quiet was a rare luxury for her. But there was nothing wrong with company, so when she saw the girl she decided to introduce herself.
"Are you looking for the middle?" She asked. "There's a passage I found, starts right here and leads straight to the center. I'm Sally Porter, Aladren. WHo are you?"\n\n

But we're not... So it isn't funny.

"Straight to the middle?!" Sorrel's eyes lit up. "AWESOME!" She jumped in the air with a small whoop, causing her bunches to swing up and down. Sorrel always wore her shoulder length brown hair in bunches, which she bound with wool, starting at the top and crisscrossing down to the bottom.
"Which way?" she asked eagerly, tensing into a sprint start. "I'm racing my brother, and I have to beat him and I'm Sorrel but that's not important right now, let's go!" she gabbled, bouncing on the balls of her feet. \n\n

She grabbed the girl's shoulder, and pulled her into a small alcove. Sally then headed straight for a suit of armor, and pulled on the spear. A hedge opened, and a cobwebby hallway appeared.
"I fell while I was wondering around, and grabbed onto that spear. THis opened, and i decided to explore."
Then she sprinted off into the darkness.
When they reached the other end of the tunnel, it magically opened, to reveal a set of fountains, but no one in sight.
"So I guess you beat your brother then," Sally laughed, and then asked, "So, anything interesting about you guys? Tiwns, I gather, if you are in the same year."\n\n

"Cobwebs? Cool!" Sorrel panted, as Sally opened the secret passage way (another wicked feature). If one thing could be said for Ash's influence on Sorrel, it was that she hadn't grown up a girly girl. The other two options had been either play dollies on her own, or convince Ash that he liked them. He hadn't bitten the bait. Not that Sorrel had cared, nor did she now. Mud and kicking things, and many other activities that could not be done in a skirt, were far more preferable to playing house.
"Yes!" she shouted, punching the air, as they hit the centre of the maze. "We beat him!" She cupped her hands around her mouth, spinning in a circle as she shouted "SUCK - ON - THAT - AAASH!!!" She grinned at Sally.
"Yeah, we're twins," she nodded, catching her breath from the run, perching on the edge of the fountain. "Obviously unidentical. He's a complete doofus. We're both in Picari though, so we must have something in common, probably that we like kicking each other to bits," she grinned, talking so fast she probably wouldn't catch up the breath she'd lost. "What about you? Any siblings?" \n\n
13Sorrel CravenWe're twins, but we're not related51Sorrel Craven05
Sally grinned. "2 older brothers, and 3 older sisters. They're all muggles, and boy were they jealous. But I got used to it. And all brothers are doofuses at times. That's what makes them brothers.
"Well you've learned that I'm muggleborn, and I'm from Texas, if you hadn't guessed by my accent. What about you? also, any bets on how long it will take your brother to reach here? I don't even know him, but the look on his face should be good." \n\n
"Urgh, we have an older sister too - me and Ash, that's my twin, by the way - she's awful," said Sorrel, rolling her grey eyes. "She's the reason I know what nail polish smells like," said Sorrel, gagging. "Her name's Mariella, and she can't do magic either. But she doesn't care. I think she thinks it's a bit base and vulgar, and she wouldn't want to do anything that would risk her manicure or delicate little nose." Sorrel rolled her eyes again. She had actually been very lucky to escape being made a girly girl by Mariella. The age difference was enough that her older sister had been too old for dolls when Sorrel was at the potentially dolly age. Ash had always ignored her if she, Sorrel, was wearing make up, so there hadn't really been any activity the two sisters could share, as Sorrel couldn't stand her twin ignoring her, and vice versa. So Mariella had turned up her adorable little nose disparingly, whilst the twins wrestled in the mud and put worms down each others necks.
"Hey!" the shout came from a gap in the hedge opposite where the two girls were sitting. It looked like Sally's wish about seeing Ash's face was coming true. He gaped at his sister "How did you- O-oh," he said, catching sight of Sorrel's companion. "I knew you couldn't have done it by yourself."
"You never said that was a rule," Sorrel shrugged, "Just because I used my stunning social skills, a gene which seems to have passed you by... It still means I won!" she grinned. Bounding over and playfully shoving him.
"Cheat!" he grinned, trying to put her in head lock.
"Not!" she replied, ruffling his already messy black hair.
"Are SO!" he teased, swinging her up over his shoulders. Sorrel beat at him, cursing the fact that she was the smaller and lighter of them. "What do you say?" he asked the girl, "Shall I chuck her in the fountain?"\n\n

Sally laughed. "I wouldn't if I were you." she replied. "However, since you both seem to want a jaunt in the fountains, here you go." ANd sally, taking the boy, whatever his name was, by suprise, pushed them both in.\n\n
