He had the password. Charlie let himself into the staffroom, looking around curiously. He was almost more curious about the prefect lounge, that having been a student privilege that had escaped him, the badge having gone to Julian, but there was no logical reason for him to ask for that today. Staff room would have to do, and it wasn’t bad. Honestly, he had been in nicer rooms, but there was still something of a childish thrill about getting to see ‘backstage.’
Most of his specific teachers were gone, which was probably for the best. Not that he had anything against them (and, he broadly hoped/thought vice versa) but it would just have been slightly weird to try and hang out. There was fresh blood though. Some of it pretty attractive. Not that he was looking right now, but the fact that he wasn’t was probably the only reason why his father had not put an expressive ‘do not hit on any of my colleagues’ rule on the table, and it seemed a shame to waste such an opportunity if it presented itself.
He looked around, helping himself to some mediocre coffee, wondering whether it was worth the calories in milk and sugar that it would take to make it palatable. He decided it would be, based on the fact that ‘previously forbidden’ was a pretty delicious coffee flavour.
He made himself comfortable (as much as one could on a staffroom grade couch), and picked up one of the out of date magazines to browse until someone came by to be entranced by the force of mysterious blond handsomeness that he representented.

Most of the time, Killian was basically tired. He loved his job, loved the students, and loved his life as a whole, but his 5 o'clock shadow had turned into a burning-the-midnight-oil shadow, and his eyes were just a little darker than usual. Still, he was a generally chipper person. He tried to make a point of socializing with the other staff members, but wasn't ever sure exactly how to do that since they were all professors and he was not. There where some staff who weren't professors, but not too many, and they were mostly focused on their own work or otherwise occupied in one way or another. Killian was in the weird space between professor and not-professor that made friend-making harder than he might have liked.
When he entered the staff room keen on a cup of coffee, he wasn't sure whether he was just too tired to recognize a colleague, or whether there was a stranger in the staff room. He was sure that the young man wasn't a student is they weren't actually that far apart in age, but he couldn't think of another reason for him to be here. Some vague mention of something happening with somebody's something came to mind, but he wasn't sure whether he'd made it up or not. His nose had been in one too many college brochures and he'd missed more than a few bits of news around campus.
"You're a new face," Killian acknowledged, hoping he wasn't wrong. He poured himself a cup of coffee and turned around, offering a hand and a smile to the young man. "I'm Killian. Guidance counselor here. What brings you to Sonora? And the staff room at that?"
OOC - It doesn't always fit cleanly into the narration but just a reminder that Killian has a heavy Irish accent.
"Sort of," Charlie acknowledged with an even-toothed, gleaming white smile when the man, Killian - guidance counsellor, called him a new face. He took in the shadows under the eyes, and something a bit too far gone to count as designer stubble, and decided that it was too cruel to play games. "I went to school here," he clarified, "So I could say the same to you," he pointed out cheerfully. "Though I don't think too many of the staff here would recognise me - except Professor Xavier and the librarian." Okay, maybe he wasn't completely above having a little fun, but more the kind where he was making little jokes for his own amusement than torturing a sleep deprived staff member with logic riddles. Harmless fun.
"Charlie," he replied, shaking the proffered hand. "And....something to do with you, actually, I think," he added, when asked what he was doing here, "Either something you started or a bigger program that includes you as a cog. Or something you're about to be roped into, so heads up," he added, "Professor Skies asked me in as part of a thing to do with giving the kids practical examples of how their skills translate into the real world. I've been helping them get to grips with fabric patterning and faking up things for photo shoots.
"And the staff room... because I can," he admitted, with a roguish grin. "Freely and legally," he added, because he didn't want anyone thinking him a ne'er do well, "She gave me the password. I don't think I'd have got in without it. Perhaps if I'd gone into Defence or curse breaking," he shrugged.
"Been here long?" he asked. He vaguely recalled Tarquin mentioning things about a guidance counsellor starting, but he couldn't put a number on that fact, and it seemed polite to take an interest.

Killian felt a bit silly trying to interact with a fellow adult. He felt wholly out of practice, despite the fact that he did talk to himself pretty regularly and he had hoped that would count for something. Charlie made it a bit easier by being quirky and reasonably funny though, and Killian found himself chuckling along with his explanation.
"That makes sense. I'd probably do the same thing," he smiled. "I think I do vaguely remember her mentioning that." He was pretty sure he was supposed to know about these things but honestly, with CATS and RATS coming up on top of the college applications, job applications, and transition program applications, Killian was just happy to have somebody else doing a piece of what he normally tried to do. The more services that students had, the better. "Are you going to be a regular around for a while? Or just visiting briefly?" He hoped his eyes didn't show how desperately he hoped the young man was going to be sticking around.
"This is my second year here, so not too long. I'm definitely still getting used to it." He gestured around in general, since "it" could have been the room, the school, his position, or the country. Or all of the above. "I didn't realize how much turnover there's been since you would've been a student. Just Professor Xavier and the librarian, you said? Tarquin's great. Most of my work is conducted in the library so I learned quickly to follow his rules, play nice, and never back down from the chance to give him a hard time."
OOC - Let me know if Killian's assessment of Tarquin and his relationship is too god-moddy and I'll change it.
