You aren't alone [Wally] by Valentine Duell
It was time. The feast was over and Professor Xavier was on his way to the table to collect the new first years. In light of what she knew she had to do, she had made sure to introduce herself to them and welcome them to their new home during the meal. Now it was time to go. She got up from the table and caught Professor Xavier's eye. Nearly every year she had helped him wrangle the new kids up to the common room and been there for his welcoming speech, but she couldn't this year.Val gave the man a look that she thought should fairly straightforwardly convey the message of 'I'm sorry, but I can't come along this time, I've got to see to Wally he's going to need love and support after the results of the Head Student thing. I'll try to get up to the commons as soon as I can though to help out.'
After that she darted toward the Aladren table to quickly embrace her girlfriend and give her a quick kiss. She confirmed with Bonabelle about meeting for their traditional 'first breakfast back'. She hoped Bonabelle wasn't to broken up about not getting it. Out of her two people she knew that Bonabelle would handle the disappointment better. She seemed a bit disappointed, but Val also thought there was a bunch of relief hidden there as well.
With that done, she headed towards the exit that everyone was filing though. Along the way she found Wally, slipped her arm around his waist, and once they were through the door she guided him just a little way down a corridor that no one else was using at the moment.
Once they were clear of the main flow of people, she stopped and hugged him properly. Without letting go she said, in a voice just above a whisper, "I'm sorry Wally. How are you doing?" Then feeling it necessary to show her support she added, "I voted for you."
