The music challenge had been varied, in many ways—instruments, enthusiasm, skill. The majority of what was produced had been fun. That had really been the end goal - something that was cheerful and entertaining, as no one was expecting a full concert symphony from transfigured musical instruments, and with no guarantee that all groups even had people who knew how to play formally.
The evening after the performances, a list went up in the hall. The top three teams were highlighted in gold, as a reminder of their additional honour (though some of them perhaps felt it a dubious one).
