Gaming Club - It was a dark and stormy night...
by Valentine Duell
"The thunderstorm continues to rage outside the old castle walls. Rain pounds down against the stone walls and roof, blowing in some of the broken windows. Lightning flashes through the windows, illuminating the cloud darkened morning sky. Crashing thunder rolls through the structure, making everything vibrate and rattle." Valentine set the scene for her players as they started off another session of the gaming club in the school's library.
"As far as you noticed, the evening was thankfully uneventful, other than the incessant storm outside." She segued from opening into a brief recap. "Lord Donovin has hired you to investigate this castle and its grounds in advance of him purchasing it. The rumor is that it is haunted, and he wants you to confirm or deny that. Also, there's a bonus in store if you find something and deal with it. So far, after one day of investigating, you haven't found anything overtly strange or terribly out of the ordinary." The die rolls last session hadn't been great. "You thought there was something a little odd about the library, but couldn't quite put your fingers on what. There was also that slightly odd set of trees out in the garden that you noticed just before the storm began. Also, the west wing of the castle still remains unexplored."
Then Val gave her players a rather wicked smile as she moved into the current situation. "However, as you are gathering your things and getting ready for today's investigations you all quickly notice that all of your rations and other food supplies are gone." Those perception checks hadn't been good either. "Nothing else seems to be disturbed or missing. A quick glance around the room doesn't reveal any obvious signs of intrusion and you know the only door to the room wasn't opened last night."
She glanced over her players, "What would your characters like to do?" It was the standard question, very purposefully open-ended. That was the nature of the game after all. However, some people just worked better with some options laid out before them, "You could investigate this room or it's contents further, you could backtrack to one of the other locations you thought was a bit odd, you could push forward into the west wing... which incidentally, since you haven't found it yet, must be where the kitchens are, or you could do anything else you can think of."
OOC: Welcome to the Sonora Gaming Club! We're joining in two or three sessions into the adventure, your students can have whatever characters you'd like, be as vague or specific as you'd like. If you'd like to roll dice for any checks your character may be doing, head over to Chatzy and use the '/rolldie 20' command. I've set this event up for multiple threads so we can run different interactions for different locations and such. If you've got any questions, toss them in Chatzy as well and I'll do my best to answer them. Have fun!
