Advanced Divinations - Stones and ripples
by Giselle Duell
Giselle thought her advanced class was doing quite well at their little games of 'hide and seek' when class time came around. She had a few reasons for holding this class in her actual classroom today though. For one thing, she thought it might throw some of them off, this being the last place they might thing to check to see where class was happening. For another thing, it was getting difficult to find places to have suitable class, she was running out of viable hiding places. So, she waited in her own classroom again when it was time for her pupils to arrive.
The room was decorated in it's traditional manner; tables covered in eclectic coverings, dim lights and plenty of soothing aromatic incenses burning. Giselle was attired in her normal eclectic manner as well. Once her students were settled, she picked a brown leather pouch off of her desk. Each of the students had a similar one at their seat.
"Welcome to class everyone," She began with the hint of a smile., "I'm glad that everyone was able to find me today. We will be meeting here for the next few classes, and working with runestones." Giselle deftly plucked one such stone from her bag. It was a yellowish stone, etched with the Elder Futhark symbol for 'd'. "You will need your Rune Dictionaries today. If anyone is taking Ancient Runes, you may find you have an easier time of it than others. Regardless, each stone in your bag is unique; color, shape and the rune etched upon it all factor into using the stones for divinations. You will find the practice similar to that of reading the tarot cards, but it is not so rigidly defined." She was rather certain that no one would consider tarot cards 'rigidly defined' by any stretch of the imagination.
"Just as a stone thrown into a pond makes ripples, so does a runestone when placed amid the magical auras of the world. The physical properties of the runestone are important to note because they shape the ripples it makes in the magical fields, but it is those interactions that true diviners seek. As usual, they are faint and difficult to sense, so don't be discouraged if you can't sense anything immediately. As usual, focus on some information you would like to know and let that question guide you as you select stones from your bag and place them on the table."
"You may begin and I will be around to see how you are doing. If you need a question to focus on, I will have plenty available for you."
OOC: There's not a lot on cannon runestones, so go have fun and make up whatever you want. If you got questions or anything, you can find me in Chatzy.
