While this wasn't nearly as bad as it could be, it still was bad enough. Even though Lavender was glad nobody was dying and Stanley wasn't being an idiot and this predicament was Val's own choice rather than one or both of her parents inflicting it on her.
"I'm all right at it, I guess ." Lavender replied. "But I don't do as much as you."

Valentine smiled at Lavender, "That's 'cause you're smarter than me." She sighed again, "I got myself into this mess and now I've got to find a way out. Really I just need to drop out of one or two clubs, but which ones? Gardening? Art? Dueling?" Valentine shook her head. The gaming club was another, but there was no way she could drop that one.
Lavender was relieved to have further confirmation that this was Val's choice. "Well, which of these things do you like least? You shouldn't do something that you don't enjoy as much and it's important to take time for relaxation."
"That is the problem" Val responded a trifle unhappily, "I like them all.... I like being with the people in the clubs. I like doing the things with the people in the clubs." She ruminated a moment, "What would be nice would be less schoolwork. Or maybe not needing extra help in transfigurations."
Lavender was being really sweet and trying to be helpful, it was super-nice. "Thanks for the offers of help, but I may be a lost cause." She stabbed at the ground with her shovel again for a moment or two before looking back up at her friend.
"What do you like to do to calm down and relax? It it something we could do together? That could be fun?"
Valentine nodded at Lavender's suggestions. "Right, you have come to the Art club once in a while, we got to hang out there some while working on things. It was fun, we can definitely do that again." She took another stab at the ground with the shovel, "Doing nothing with somebody sounds absolutely fantastic as well. I used to be bored all the time at home before I got to come to school. I don't remember what that was like anymore."
OOC: Lavender's occasional presence at the clubs is verified from her author. Assumption that they hung out together when that happened is author speculation and can be altered if necessary.
Lavender nodded. Her other relaxing hobbies were playing oboe and reading, neither of which was a group activity. "I mean, she doesn't just lie there, she's probably reading or listening to the wireless, but yeah, crafting again just us would be cool. It's too bad we can't like, have a spa day or something since we're at school. Not sure MARS does that."
