“Good morning,” Ema smiled, as Killian made his way into the kitchen. “Aaaand happy Valentine’s Day,” she added, depositing a bouquet of dahlias on the countertop.
“Do you have a favourite flower?” she asked. “I feel like no one ever asks guys that, but that it was also gonna to spoil the stealth if asked you in the run up to Valentine’s Day.”
She wasn’t sure if they owned a vase, so she conjured one. When he unwrapped the flowers to put them in their water, he would also find several packets of ‘crisps’ packed underneath the paper, just in case it turned out that his favourite flower was actually just snacks. And because she did at least know his favourite flavour when it came to that.

Killian grinned and smooched the heck out of Ema when she greeted him. "Happy Valentine's Day, love," he returned. She had gotten him flowers and he grinned, feeling touched. He'd not gotten her any because she seemed like the sort of person who might be environmentally conscious enough not to want murdered plants for the holiday but he hadn't been sure; now it was sort of even better because they didn't have competing bouquets sat out. "I didn't have a favorite before but now it's dahlias," he answered, taking a whiff of his gift. And then smiling at the rest of the gift, although he tried not to look too excited because he knew he wasn't gonna eat them for breakfast. He was an adult and he could do what he wanted but he just couldn't enjoy a bag of crisps for breakfast with Ema looking worried for his health right there.
"This is for you," he added, waiving his wand to summon a small wooden box from his bag by the door. He hadn't been sure if or when gifts would be happening today but he was excited so it was happening right friggin' now. He kissed her again before giving it to her. "The glass is from the sand on the beach you said you loved me at," he told her when she opened it to reveal a small, round pendant on a simple thread cord. A paper heart was set inside. "I love you so much, pretty lady," he told her, grinning.
“They’re fun. I like how they look like pompoms. And are really easy to recognise,” Ema grinned regarding dahlias. Herbology had not been her strong suit. She enjoyed nature, but she could rarely remember what most of it was called.
Killian had a more proper, or at least more permanent gift for her. It woudl have been cute even on its own, but the story that went with it made it all the more special.
“You’re so inventive with gifts,” she smiled. “And contrary to what popular literature may have taught you, that is a genuine compliment and not a euphemism,” she assured him. “It’s lovely, and I love you too,” she smiled, sliding her arms around him for another kiss.
“Help me tie it?” she requested, pulling the necklace out of the box and holding it in place. She was perfectly capable of doing it herself, but it was a nice excuse to keep him close. Not that she really needed excuses at this point.
Killian obliged, happily planting a few more kisses on her neck as he tied the thread for her. "What do you want to do tonight? I can make us fancy dinner if you'd like, but I wanted to see if you had any other preferences. I mean, I can think of a few things," he said, wiggling his eyebrows, "but I wasn't sure what you'd like."
