She was MORE than mad. She was pissed off and in her eyes that was an okay feeling under the circumstances and if anyone knew her at all they’d know it by how she’d reacted to the news that she couldn’t play in the game even though she’d rested and had gone to see her doctor at home over the break. She felt fine the whole week before the game and still they wouldn’t let her play. She’d sent a letter via owl to Arista to tell her, the day before the game, that she wouldn’t be playing against her and Mir knew that would upset and anger her just as much as it hurt Amira to say it.
“I’m just so- UGH! Disgustified!!” she said as she punched her fist into her pillow over and over again. “I’m fine! I JUST WANT TO PLAY!” she shouted as her heavy breathing, showing her anger got louder and louder. Mellie and Jhon knew she was mad, they had to, so her reaction to not being allowed to play should not have been much of a surprise to them. If it was, then they didn’t really know their house and year-mate.
Instead of playing, like she should have been, she had to sit out of the game and watch Jade play in her place. This made the competitive twelve year old stew even worse. Knowing that it was almost time for the game and that she would need to be there, In case… she thought as she got her robes and broom and left Pecari to head to the Pitch.
****
The game started with Jose shaking hands with Kirstenna of Teppenpaw and the game went on and on without her. Sitting on the sidelines did nothing for her and she knew it. I should be PLAYING. she thought angrily as the Quaffle went from one side to the other, passing from yellow to brown back to yellow, back to brown and so on and so forth until she saw that it got to her sister. Even though she was a Pecari, she still felt the need to cheer on her sister. “GO RIS!” she called, even though she was in her own brown robes for Pecari. She wanted to see if she’d made the first goal of the game, but-
Then she saw it.
The golden glitter of the Snitch right by Jade’s ear and she couldn’t do anything about it! If she screamed to Jade, Kate, Teppenpaw’s Seeker would see too. She was stuck between a rock and a hard place and it was killing her inside.
If only I was playing, I could win the whole game already! she thought to herself angrily as she watched the golden flicker move away from Jade’s ear and out of her eyesight for a moment before she spotted it again, lingering by the Pecari goalposts. She hopped up and down, hoping that perhaps Jade would see her and watch to see what she was doing.
It didn’t look like Jade had seen, or if she did she hadn’t seen her fast enough and the red-headed Pecari lost view of the shiny golden ball once again. “Humph.” she said as she watched the game with half an interest in it. Sure, she wanted Pecari to win because that was her house, her team. But at the same time if she couldn’t play she wanted Arista to win too.
The game went on without her and she stewed worse and worse as she watched, unable to take flight, unable to win the game for Pecari from the ground. Being grounded out of a game was worse than any other time she’d been grounded at home. She hoped for all hopes that she’d never have to be grounded again! She hated this more than anything else that could happen.
Well, almost anything else… Her siblings health being better was something that she wanted, so their ill health would rival her hate of not being able to play, but only just. She knew that a game was just that, a game, but that didn’t mean she didn’t want to win it with her own two hands.
The sling was slung off, the cast uncast, and his arm was healed. He'd begged to keep his scars and was obliged, the faded etches of three talon marks running the length of his left arm. His arm was healed but it made no difference. It hung uselessly by his side, attached to a hand that gripped a broom he'd never mount, never take to flight. Above him in the air, circling the field, was a girl that shouldn't be there. Elijah's dark brown eyes tracked her in her flight, his imagination divided between visions of her falling to an extremely miserably pathetic death, and his own glorious streaking across the sky had he been permitted to play. 'I can't believe they think she's better than me.' His respect for Demelza Eagle and Captain Hernandez hadn't faded, which made the situation all the more worse. If he hadn't any respect for them, then their decision not to put him as starting seeker in place of Amira could be justifiably railed against, refuted in his heart because he'd think them incompetent and losers and idiots and simply unable to recognize a saving grace when they saw it. But he did respect them, and thought they were awesome amazing leaders who knew how to lead an army of chasers, beaters, keeper and seeker. Which meant that... 'They don't think I'm good enough. So I'm not good... but I am!' He was, he was, he knew he was. Hadn't he shown it in try outs? A shadow of a shudder ran through his body, his muscles remembering the metal pole he'd flown into. 'But I came back from that. And I captured snitches - well, those practice balls. And I can fly! And with my cast off, I'm better.'
The whole situation was frustrating, enough so that his breath got shallow whenever he thought of it, his ears burned red, bright despite the dark caramel skin that clothed him. To sit in the stands, useless and dubbed inferior to a girl by his own captain was... at least Amira was actually older than him, had seniority. Jade was his own year. 'If they let Amira be seeker, by the time she leaves Jade will be given starting seeker anyway. I'll never have a chance.' Unless she got hurt, and despite the fantasies of seeing her plummet through the air to her death or at least into a mangled mess of blood and bones, he knew he wasn't really going to do anything about it. All he could do was watch from the sidelines while she flew in his rightful stead. He glanced away from the pitch, the Quaffle being dragged from one side to the other, gaze settling on Amira, the dethroned seeker. 'Or...'
"Hola," He slid on the bench toward her, smiling brightly at her, sympathy dipping his smile. "Sorry you're not starting today." He really actually was. "I thought you were great in practice. Hopefully if we actually win, Jose will let you play the next game." If they won this game, Jade will have proven herself a good seeker, which was bad, unfortunate, but Elijah shoved that possibility to the side. "Are you feeling better?" He didn't know what was so wrong with Amira that she was removed from her standing on the team, but it was in Elijah's best interests that she get better (and that she gave him a good recommendation to the captain, suggesting him as a replacement one she left). If he had to wait on her hand and foot he would. She needed to get better. Jade was not going to ruin the future for him. He would take the future into his own hands.
Ever since Angel's vague explanation of Quidditch, Waverly had been interested in the match. She had read about it a bit during her work as a library assistant, and it looked like a really dangerous game. She still didn't understand all the mechanics of it, but she wanted to watch her peers fly around on broomsticks and play. It sounded a lot like football, but in the air. And there was a little golden ball that had to be caught too. Er, yeah.
Intrigued by the unfamiliar sport, she had decided to go spectate. She got up early and put on her gold robes, the only one she had, and tied her brown hair back with a brown ribbon. She looked into the mirror and smiled at herself. Though the ribbon sort of blended in with her hair, she liked how it looked. She didn't tie her hair up often, but it looked pretty when she tried. She liked the robes she wore, and suddenly felt very patriotic. She was a Pecari after all, and she had to support her team. No better time to do that than now! And her roommate was the Seeker, which gave her another reason to come.
Waverly went to the stands and saw a familiar face. It was that boy that had teased her last term and had kissed her on the cheek. Her face would still burn at that memory, that was for certain. Her mom had laughed when she'd told her that, but whatever. He didn't have his cast on anymore either. Her anger had cooled considerably, of course, and she wanted to make friends. There was another girl she didn't recognize there too, and she looked older and angry. Curious, Waverly went to sit by them.
"Hi guys, mind if I sit by you?" She looked at the older girl carefully. "Are you okay?" She obviously had no idea who was on the Quidditch team, and she didn't even think of the possibility that some people weren't able to play. She didn't exactly keep up with sports, though that was subject to change at any time.

Amira sat there stewing as she felt someone slide next to her on the bench. She heard him say hello in Spanish and she turned to see Elijah sitting there next to her, smiling with something of a hint of sympathy in his smile. “Eh, it’s not your fault I was stupid over the summer…” she said feeling more stupid about what she’d done than even at the time. “Hopefully, but I don’t think they will. Stupid me.” she said, punching herself on her right leg as she spotted the snitch again. This time it hovered not far from Teppenpaw’s seeker. Mir hoped that Kate hadn’t seen it and bit her lip as she turned back to Elijah. “Feeling better? Of course! I spent most of break resting or at one doctor or another, but they still wouldn’t let me play.” she answered, scowl very apparent on her face. “I’m sorry, you didn’t do this to me, I did. I have no right talking to you this way. I’m sorry Elijah.” she said to him as she sighed. The anger that burned her from the inside out had changed who she was. Yes, Amira Thornton was, if it was possible, the most angry Thornton there was so far. This fact however, did not mean that she could be rude to someone who only told her that she was good at practice and that maybe Jose would let her play Seeker in the next game if they won.
Before much time went by after her apology, another first year like Elijah came over to them and asked if she could sit with them. “Whatever floats your boat.” she said to the girl as she saw the careful glance of the younger girl to her. “Am I okay?” she repeated before she paused to think of how best to speak again. Of course she wasn’t okay, she could have won the game three times already if she were playing, but NO… She had to be stupid and end up with Traumatic Headaches for her stupidity. “No, I’m not okay.” she said softly, getting a little bit louder with each passing word until the last four. “I’m mad, alright. It’s just not fair. I’m fine! I should be playing.” The last four words were quiet, much quieter than the first few. She realized what she’d done as an afterthought. “I’m sorry, please don’t leave on account of me. I know I really shouldn’t be rude, and I’m sorry I was.” she said to both the younger girl and to Elijah too. "Please, sit down. Come watch my older sister and the rest of the game." she said, sighing as she turned up to watch Arista try to score. "GO RIS!" she called even as she sat there she watched Sophie catch Ris' fastball and her mouth opened wide. "Holy cow... How'd she catch that?! Even I can't catch her fastballs!" Mir turned to Elijah and the other girl who she thought was named Waverly and shook her head in disbelief.
Two things: 1) Reserves sit on a bench on the floor of the pitch, not in the stands so, sorry, Waverly, but you're not down there. It's restricted to team members.
2) You can't say that the snitch is next to one of the seekers and blame them for not seeing it when they have not been given permission to catch anything. Having a character not do something is as much godmodding as making them do something. Even if you just say it's there, you have put them in the horrible position of either accepting that they are incompetent or going against the OOC game rules. I'm sure you would not like other people to do that to Amira so please don't do it to Jade or Kate.
