Asking favours (tag Killian and Mary)

OOC: CW - illness/hospitalisation of a loved one BIC:
Selina wondered what thoughts crossed Killian's mind nowadays when he received a summons to her office. It had been rather more imperative than usual too, requesting his attendance at a specific time rather than at his leisure, or from a selection of times she was free. She suspected the reason as to why would become obvious when he arrived and found that Mary had been summoned too - that should also set aside the worry that this was personal. To him, anyway.
She forestalled any questions from the first to arrive with the fact that they were waiting for the other, forcing herself to make small talk. She had done her best to make sure she presented a composed picture, but had done little to camoflague the fact that she had been recently crying. She wondered whether they had known that something was wrong before they came. Whether the note itself had tipped them off, or whether news of her missed class had spread, even though Isis had been the one to cover for her.
"Thank you for coming," she stated, once they were both seated in front of her.
"I have to ask some favours and some support of both of you," she stated, trying to firmly stick to the business parts of this conversation, although she doubted it would stay neatly single-hatted for long. Both of the people in front of her were her friends, were people whose shoulders she could just about allow herself to cry on. It was convenient that they were the best placed combination of people to do the favours that she needed, even indepedent of that fact. It made it much easier to have to lean on them. And Killian would have ended up all tangled in, even if she hadn't been involving him for professional reasons...
She was not a person who was prone to fidgeting, and the way that her fingers locked pointedly into each other suggested that was a habit she was aiming to maintain, but one which had recently become decidedly more trying than usual.
"My brother is in hospital," she stated, trying to suck all feeling from the words because if she gave them any - if they became a reflection of reality rather than just cold and meaningless syllables, just waves disrupting the air - she knew she would not make it to her next sentence. She did not completely succeed in keeping her voice from shaking. "As to how this affects you," she said, before they could interrupt or begin to console her. She suspected it affected them more than she meant it to. She had chosen the two best people to support her. The two best people to do the jobs she needed them to do. How was it possible that that lucky coincidence, that those two things were combined in the same pair of people, had also dealt it out that they were two people for whom the subject of brothers was inherently difficult and hurtful? She found herself glancing away, unable to face that her own pain might be stirring up theirs. "I have asked Tarquin to handle some administrative things. I hope not to miss classes but if I do, that will be up to Isis. I just want someone here. For them," she nodded to the door that led through to Crotalus, "I know it's not ideal, or that it doesn't always work out that whoever is sitting in this office is who they'll feel like talking to. But just so that there is always is a named adult who's responsible for them. I know you're both busy, but if it's shared between the three of us, I hope it'll be alright.
"I'm not sure for how long..." she added.
