Osvaldo strode from the school into the gardens, his robes billowing dramatically behind him as he moved. Behind him a lone prairie elf walked along trying to keep up. The man paused at the entrance to the labyrinth itself and without looking down, addressed the prairie elf, "Tuppy, gather your kith and kin that work the gardens. I will address them at the center of the labyrinth."
"Yes Master," the elf bowed low and then vanished into the underbrush. Osvaldo allowed himself a small smile at the title. He was no gardener or janitor, but this could still be quite the interesting position indeed. Navigating to the heart of the labyrinth was a mostly simple affair. He had examined the map of the the place earlier and committed it to memory. There was only one minor place where he ran into a dead-end. The map had been marred at that location and he hadn't been sure if it had been a proper passage or not. Apparently not. He would need to fix that section.
As such, upon his arrival at the very center of the labyrinth he saw it filled with quite a few prairie elves. Tuppy stood upon the gazebo in the middle of the clearing. The prairie elves made a path for him as he strode to take his place to address them. The new groundskeeper stepped up onto the gazebo and Tuppy bowed her head to him. "Excellent work Tuppy, this is all of them?"
"Yes Master."
"Very good," He turned to face the gathering. "As you have heard by now, I have taken over the position and duties of groundskeeper from Professor Xavier. As such, your new orders will be coming from me." He paused just a moment for effect, "For now, you will continue with your previous assignments while I review the condition of the grounds and the allocations of our resources. However, do not be surprised if some rearranging of duties occur in the next few weeks. I am sure Professor Xavier was a competent groundskeeper, however he also had other duties to attend to. My sole focus will be on making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible around here." He paused again, more out of consideration of whether or not he should say more, then decided against it. "That is all for now, return to your duties. Thank-you."
The small clearing was empty in an instant, even Tuppy had gone. He smiled now, this would be interesting. There were definite plans to make, but first he did need to survey the grounds. Duty first, then pleasure. He wound his way out of the labyrinth the long way, taking note of the state of the grounds and the charms that kept the school in the state that it was. Some of the weather charms seemed a little off, they would probably be the first thing on his list to investigate and stabilize before anything crazy started to happen.
