Interior Decorating: Divinations Edition
by Ichabod Linn
Ichabod Linn liked dreams. It was dream interpretations that had first got him interested in Divination and it was in dreams that he felt his unconscious was open for Sights to come through more clearly.
So it would be no surprise to those who knew him that he decorated his rooms to have a dreamy (or nightmarish, depending on one’s personal views on aesthetics) quality to it. The deep purple walls were covered by clear, pure lavender amethyst stone, the windows were hidden by heavy deep purple velvet drapes, and the gray wooded floor (as well as a good two feet off the floor) was buried in a thick, billowing gray smoke that seemed trapped to the ground. The standard were replaced with rounded tables, each one having two seats, all which were aligned sporadically before his own rounded desk, filled with baubles and gadgets. Beyond his desk, there were no other trinkets lying around – trinkets proved distracting when trying to See, and as a professor it was his job to ensure a good learning environment for his subject.
Linn laughed to himself. That’s right, he was a professor now. While he hadn’t intended to be one, hoping to end up a Seer for an important wizarding family or to work with his long-term girlfriend with her spell-book business, his Sights had led him to Sonora. He knew he had done right by his inner eye when he had met the staff.
And while most wizards looked down upon divination – well, let them. Divinations was a powerful magic in its own right, more magical and mystical than any other step-by-step wand-work. Now all he had to do was teach his students this lesson. Oh, and maybe teach them some Divinations while he was at it.
