Midterm, points, and all that jazz by Sadi Powell

As midterm approaches, I thought it's time to bring everyone back up to speed with this and that.

As per the schedule, midterm will start on 28th May. Midterm lasts for 2 weeks both IC (in character) and RT (real time), so term will resume on 11th June. This period either gives authors a rest if they need it, or time to explore their character in different settings. Staff and sudents can stay at Sonora, or go home for the holiday - that's entirely the author's choice. If they stay at Sonora, normal posting rules apply, and extra activities will be offered for anyone to join in. If they leave Sonora, we have an external journal page where authors can post about activities outside of school.

Before midterm, you must submit points earned in your lessons. House points are awarded at the discretion of the professor, but we do have some guidelines. For each initial post (the first post a character does in your lesson thread) award on a 1-5 scale; if the post is average, meets all posting rules but doesn't stand out, you might award 3 points. If it's particularly lengthy and creative you might award 4 points, but if there are plenty of spelling mistakes or it falls short of the minimum length requirement you might only award 2 points. Then for each subsequent post, you would usually award one more point per post.

Working example:
Student 1 posts (3 points),
Student 2 replies (3 points),
Student 1 replies (1 point),
Student 3 enters (4 points),
Student 2 replies (1 point) etc.

Enter your points in the 'point history' page, which can be found with the other links at the top of the staff lounge. Please have all points enetered by 4th June. Thanks.

Any questions, you know where to send them.
