Catching Morgaine [a few days after the Prefect Meeting] by Saul Pierce
Saul had told Connor and Elly that he'd talk with Morgaine after class. Since the CATS were over and they'd been allowed to cut down their number of courses, the two he shared with Morgaine were Transfiguration and DADA. As he thought he had a slightly better chance of defending himself right after practicing doing that, should she prove as dangerous as her reputation suggested, he decided to approach her after DADA.Plus, he was pretty sure Briony's dad would save him, if only for Briony's sake, if things went really bad.
He didn't think they would come to that though. He just had one question for her and, unlike Echo and some other people he could name, he was going to let her say no if she wanted to.
Mostly because he didn't want Professor O'Leary to have to save him.
"Hey, Morgaine!" he called after her as she started to leave. It was, he was fairly certain, the first time he'd ever approached the only remaining Pecari left in their year, and he wasn't entirely sure what to expect from her. Would she ignore him? Hex him? Turn around and ask him what he wanted? Smile?
"Hey," he said again, this time as a greeting instead of trying to get her attention. He hoped he didn't sound nervous. "Did you want to be in the concert? We haven't picked a soloist yet, if you want to try out for that, or we've got spots in the group act, and for stage crew. You can do as much or as little as you like. You can say no, but we'd really like to get as many Pecaris involved as we can." Yeah, he probably sounded nervous. He usually remembered to breath in between sentences.
