Mia wasn't so sure she should try this spell with another dummy. Perhaps it would be wise to do this with a living person rather that a lifeless dummy. Then again, she was unsure if someone would want to partner with 'the girl who blew her dummy out the window.' Mia sighed.
Apparently her self confidence dropped a notch or two since her arrival at Sonora. It was probably because she was so new to magic but she had ben doing all her other subjects back home for years. It was the same subjects every year in Jersey. Mia had heard a few people comment on her performance with the dummy.
"Well, at least I did the stupid jinx!" Mia said heatedly to herself.
She stepped back to her seat in hopes someone was done with a dummy and wanted to join her or if a group wouldn't mind a triplet rather than a pair.\n\n
Leann looked at a girl sitting in her seat. She was almost sure it was the girl who had blasted her dummy out the window. Knowing what it was like to be alone, she walked over to the girl and said to her, "I was wondering if you would like to join me? You seem to have alot of power, to be able to blast the dummy out the window." She looked at her, waiting patiently for an answer.\n\n
Mia looked up and saw a girl offering to partner up. The girl looked oddly familiar. They must've spoken briefly before. Well, Mia was just glad to be offered a partner.
"I'd be glad to join you. Thanks a lot. A lot of power, huh? Well I don't think that power is going to get me much extra credit if all my partners end up like that dummy." Mia joked "I'm Mia, by the way, but I have the strangest feeling that we've met before." Mia stood up to work with the girl who made the offer.
"Oh, and I'll try to avoid a similar incident with you but...maybe we should move to the other, windowless, side of the room." Mia added as an after thought.
"Yes you look farmiliar too...maybe we talked at the feast, but I have a bad memory, so who knows! Anyway, to be on the safe side, I think moving away from the window is a good idea." She said with a laugh. "Oh, and I'm Leann." She finished as an after thought. She walked over to a less crowded place in the room, and looked behind her to see if Mia was following.\n\n
Mia followed right behind Leann. The name was definitely familiar but she too had extreme short term memory. Mia looked around the less crowded side of the classroom. Things were a lot quieter here.
'Well duh! It is the less crowded side.' Mia thought as she mentally kicked herself.
"Well Leann," Mia began as she brandished her wand and flipped her hair back. Her bright hazel eyes were glowing with determination from behind her glasses. A smirk played its way across Mia's face.
"Certaintly." Leann said as she too rose her wand. Not knowing who was to go first, she simply rose her wand and shouted "Flipendo Mia!" A whole lot more confident she was when she said this, though not wanting to hurt her, her voice faltered a bit.
It hadn't worked. The spell detected the falter, and it hadn't worked.
"Dang..." Leann said. "At least I couldn't hurt the dummy, but I don't want to hurt anyone." She explained to her failed spell.
Mia watched as Leann started. She had risen her wand but Mia heard her voice falter a bit. Mia was sure that Leann didn't want to hurt her and she gave Leann a smile.
"Don't worry about hurting anyone. That's what those cushions are protecting us from." Mia pointed behind herself and Leann. Mia remembered seeing one group throw themselves back into cushions as well.
"I'll try now." Mia said confidently. She cleared her throat, tossed her hair back and raised her wand to Leann.
"Flippendo Leann!!" Mia chanted. The spell was headed straight for Leann and Mia was positive it was going to knock her into the cushions. Well, she prayed it would. She managed the spell to hit the dummy so she was positive her spell would work. She did it once so she could do it again.
Mia jumped into the air and cheered. She watched the spell hit Leann and she fell back into the cushions Mia aimed for. Mia hurried over to Leann and put her arm out.
"Need a hand?" She asked with her signature large smile.\n\n
"Thanks. Ok, I'll get you this time. Payback." She said with a smile. She raised her wand and, not worrying about hurting her, shouted, "Flipendo Mia!" Without faltering a bit. The spell shot for Mia, and she was knocked back into the cushions. Leann cheered when she saw this.
"Yes! I knew I could do it. See?" she said to Mia as she offerered her her hand.
"That was actually fun." She said, once again smiling. Leann found she was smiling alot in the past few days. Ever since she got her letter she had been smiling. \n\n
Mia took Leann's hand this time and lifted herself up from the ground. She didn't doubt for a minute that Leann could do it.
"Great job!" Mia said and she stumbled a bit. The force of her hitting the cushions had disoriented her for a moment. Mia blinked and shook her head.
"Wow, that was some strong stuff." Mia said shaking off the dizziness "I think our performance deserves some points for our houses. Don't you?" Mia said with a smirk.
Mia may have been knocked on her butt, but she was having the time of her life. As her friend Tori would say,
Mia put her finger to her mouth in thought, the light caught her copper nail polish and made it shimmer. This was Mia's favorite kind of nail polish because of how it shimmered in the light. Mia shook her head and brought her thoughts back to the question.
"Well, I suppose we could keep going and talk while we practice. This is kind of a fun spell to know. It's a good way to relieve strss for me." Mia laughed.
She rose her wand again and prepared to cast the Knockback Jinx again.
"So, are you a muggleborn witch? I think that's what they called it when you didn't know any of this magic existed before you got your letter." Mia asked. Instead of waiting for a reply right away, she quickly cast the spell.
"Flippendo Leann!" Mia chanted again, hoping for the same result.\n\n
Leann flew backwards oonce again, just hearing Mia's question. She got up again and nodded. "Yes, I am. Mom nearly fainted when she saw the letter, and, well, I almost fainted too." She said, laughing at the memory.
"How about you? Flipendo Mia!" She shouted, and watched Mia fly into the cusions. She was right. It did help relieve stress.\n\n
Mia lifted herself up again. She brushed off her robes and answered Leann's question.
"Well, when I got my letter, my parents were both really excited. My oldest brother, who is really overprotective of me, was really happy too. He kept going on about what a great oppurtunity this would be for me. My younger older brother was being stupid and jealous and he just kept telling me how stupid that whole thing was. He's an idiot and I don't listen to a lot of what he says." Mia smiled.
She sent the jinx back at Leann. "So where are you from? Do you live any where near here?"\n\n
Leann once again flew backwards. She got up, smiling, though rubbing her back.
"I'm from Florida. My older sister laughed at me. She told me it was junk mail, but then when the person showed up at my door...while her face was priceless." She smirked, sending the spell at Mia. This was getting easy.\n\n
Mia got back up and rubbed her back a bit. She shook her head and put her wand back in her pocket.
"Let's take five shall we?" Mia said walking back over to Leann.
Mia grabbed a seat nearby and explained about herself a bit.
"I'm from New Jersey. Me and Tori both come from there. It was really funny because we both got a letter and we live really close by each other. We live about two blocks away from each other. We were so excited about getting our letters that we wouldn't shut up about it. I know my family went crazy after two days. They were ready to strangle me." Mia laughed.
"I think it's cooler to be a muggle born because I love surprises and this was one heck of a surprise. Everything here is really cool. I want to learn as much as I can while I'm here." Mia smiled her signature smile. She had been smiling ever since she got here. Well, most of the time. She blocked off the memory of the paint before she began to dwell on it.
"I wonder if there are any secret passage ways here. What do you think?" Mia asked.\n\n
"I think it's cooler to be muggle-born too. This is full of surprises, and you don't expect as much...or maybe you expect more, but it always surprises me. And it would be so col if there was secret passages. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised, this school is really old...it would be so cool to discover one, I would love to, wouldn't you?" She asked her, stuffing her wand into her pocket.\n\n
"Definitely! That would be so cool to find a secret passage! We should explore this place sometime and really look for the passages. Maybe we'll find a few. Hey! If we're lucky, we might find the way to the kitchens!" Mia exclaimed.
Mia was really glad to have someone to talk to that she didn't already know before. It's great talking to Tori but Mia wanted to meet as many new people as she could. She was at a great start though. Leann was the fifth or sixth new person she met.
'Oh yeah, I'm on a roll!' Mia congratulated herself. Mia's hair fell back in fron of her eyes. Mia gave a frustrated sigh and brushed it back behind her. The headband she was wearing wasn't helping very much.\n\n
"Ya, we should! I wondered where the kitchens were. I mean, how do they make all that food?" Leann asked as she saw Mia push her hair out of her face. Her red hair was in a ponytail.
"You should wear you hair up. It helps a lot." She said as Mia let out a sigh. Leann was very happy that she was meeting new people. Mia seemed really nice, and she was sure she would meet more people. It might be hard though, because Leann was shy. The only time she piped up was when she saw people alone. She knew what it wsa like being alone.\n\n
Mia laughed. She knew she should put her hair up but it was really fun wearing her hair down. She doesn't do it normally but she did it as a special occasion for going to school here. She did bring some ponytail holders but they were back in the dormitories.
"I'm going to wear my hair up as soon as i get a ponytail holder. All of mine are in my trunk. I can't exactly get up and leave class to get it now." Mia said with a smile. "Do you have an extra one? This head band doesn't help much." Mia asked Leann.\n\n
Mia graciously accepted the pony tail holder. It may have been green, her least favorite color but hey, beggers can't be choosers, so she didn't say anything.
Mia quickly took out her head band and her hair gracefully fell over her earn and down her back. Her hair seemed like no matter what you did, it kept an aura of perfectness. Even when it fell over her eyes.
Mia tied her hair back into a high pony tail and twirled her head band on her finger.
"So, which class are you liking the-oops!" Mia stopped as her headband flung across the room. It hit someone in the back of the head and fell to the floor.
"Oh man, this just isn't my day. I'll be right back." Mia said quickly to Leann and hurried over to apologize to the person who got hit by her head band. \n\n
"Okay!" Leann managed to say through her laughter. Everything happened to Mia. This was just to funny. She took her hair out of her ponytail and out it up again. It was beginning to fall in her eyes. She couldn't have that.
Mia must be strong, to knock someone down with a headband...Leann thought, still laughing.\n\n
Mia hurried over and profusely apologized to the person she hit. She didn't even get a good look at who it was before she grabbed her head band from the ground and hurried back to Leann.
Mia playfully punched her head and smiled.
"Apparently, I'm a jinx" Mia laughed, showing her cheery side again "This isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened to me." Mia took her seat next to Leann and smiled again. She hoped the person she hit wasn't hurt too badly or annoyed with her. Scratch that, she prayed the person she hit wasn't hurt too bad or annoyed with her.\n\n
"Ah, jinxes. Crazy as they are, jinxed people are fun to watch. Luckily, I don't think I'm jinxed. My sister might be jinxed, I don't know. Anyway, I'm rambling." She stop and took a breath, having said all of that really fast.
"Wow, it's great to be here. I've really changed since I got here. I used to be really shy, but now I'm going on and on about jinxed people!" She said with a grin as she looked at Mia.\n\n
Mia smiled at Leann. Helping people is practically what Mia lived for. She seemed to do it an awful lot especially at home... Mia mentally kicked herself. Home. Not something she was wanted to think about while she was here.
"I'm glad you've opened up and glad I could help you ramble on about jinxed people." Mia gave a large smile.
"I've proven myself as a jinx though. See, this one time, my oldest brother was playing this video game and he was fighting this giant robot thing. But his character was this little guy and the little guy had to fight the giant robot thing. So anyway, I said 'wow, it would really hurt if you got stepped on' and the next thing I know, he got stepped on by the robot and lost. Oh great, now I'm rambling." Mia laughed.\n\n
Leann laughed. "Oh, that must have sucked. And don't worry about rambling. I tend to that alot. It's not that bad, once you get used to it. See, video games don't excist in my house. My sister is like, a barbie doll, really." Leann said, her sister popping into her mind.
"She annoys me a lot, my sister." Leann said. "I fought with her a lot, so when I got my letter, she was pretty happy..." Leann shook the memory out of her head. Living it was bad enough. "Any way, onto happier things." She said, trying to change the subject.\n\n
Mia noticed her friend wanted to change the subject. Mia tried to think quickly so as not to cause an awkward silence.
"Hey, you want to see a spell I learned recently?" Mia asked cheerfully. Mia mentally kicked herself. Why did she always have to be so darn cheerful?! Well she knew why, it was mostly out of habit. She always did it at home so she does it automatically and that wasn't nessecarily a good thing.
"It's really cool! Here, I'll show you while we wait for the professor to get his butt over here!" Mia glared playfully at the professor.
Mia brought her wand again and her text for this class. She pointed the wand at the text book but suddenly stopped. She had a sudden stroke of comical genious. She smirked and raised her wand to Leann's forehead.\n\n
Leann looked at the wand that was being pointed at her forehead. She was happy she had changed the subject, but cursing her wasn't exactly the way she had anticipated her doing that.
Mia smile widened at Leann's question. Mia cleared her throat and spoke clearly.
"Enscribo Leann" Mia chanted and tapped Leann's forehead lightly. Mia saw the results she wanted and leaned back into her chair. She pocketed her wand and looked at her work. She nodded and had no doubt that Leann was confused.
Mia reached into her back and scrambled around a bit. She brought out a small circular mirror and cleaned it off a bit. Mia held the mirror in front of Leann to show her what she did. Mia thought it was quite beautiful in her opinion, the spot she put it in was just really funny to her. Mia gave Leann a large, innocent smile.
Mia adjusted the mirror so Leann could see the delicate, black, cursive lettering. Now across her forehead was the beauifully decorative looking name: LEANN\n\n
Leann widened her eyes, then tilted her head a bit.
"Actually, that looks pretty nice." She said, examining the letters on her forehead. "But, now I get to do you." She said, taking out her wand and placing it on Mia's cheek.
"What was it? Oh yeah, Enscribo Mia." She aid, and she watched happily as Mia formed onto Mia's cheek.
""Yay! I did it!" She said happily, this time giving the mirror to Mia.\n\n
Mia took her mirror back from Leann. She looked at her cheek. There was her name nicely lettered in black. Mia smiled at Leann.
"You must be a fast learner if you can do a spell after just watching someone do it fast." Mia said admiringly.
Mia raised her wand to reverse the spell but stopped. She thought the two of them looked very cool with their names scrawled across their faces. Mia lowered her wand again.
"What do you think? Should I get rid of the letters or should we keep our new look?" Mia smirked as she continued to admire herself in the mirror.\n\n
Mia thought for a minute. She probably could use this spell and others she learned to do lots of little mischievious things around the school. That is, if she was that kind of person. Mia was never known for pulling pranks and jokes on other people.
'Well, there's a first time for everything.' Mia thought to herself.
"Nothing jumps at me right away but this could be used for cute little pranks." Mia said with a large smile. "Not that I normally pull pranks." Mia said as an after thought. Mia quickly lowered her voice incase the teacher was nearby. She wasn't one to get into much trouble either.
OOC: Could we continue this coversation as a new post because I keep having to scroll all the way down here to find our conversation. lol! It's just a suggestion. =)\n\n
