A main problem of the severing charm would be it’s inability to be used like a specially prepared knife, as in a knife to be used for a potion. You cannot cast a different spell to change the properties of the severing charm. If caught in a dire situation and you didn’t have the proper blade to cut your ingredients, then the potion you are making could either have the wrong effects or not work altogether. Also, if the charm was unable to cut through a material, then it would have basically no use. Or, if your concentration were to wander halfway through the spell, then you could easily cut the wrong spot. Or you could even cut the wrong item altogether. A main problem could be that if cast by an experienced witch or wizard, the charm could most definitely be used in a violent manner. If cutting flesh, there is no telling how deep the charm would severe the skin. It could damage organs, or cut through veins. That would cause a lot bleeding, which would, in turn, cause death.

It is not ethikal to use a cheerring charm to get Elly's attenshun in class. If you do she coud call you a morron and you coud get a detenshun. So its bad and I wood never do any thing liek that.

Won good way to youse a cheerring charm is if somebody is sad and they doont want to be sad anymore. Like if I got a bad grayd on this esay, Echo could give me a chearing charm then and that wood be good beecaws I liec to be happy.

An other bad way to youse cheerring charms is if you owne a stor an you mayk evary body that comes in to the stor happy so that thay by things. And sum peeple youse chearing charms to much and thats bad to but I dont no wy. Cheerring charms ar cool tho becaws thay make peeple happy and happy is good.

Ethical Use of Cheering Charms

The seldom use of Cheering Charms on a friend who had simly had a rough day or week should raise no objection. The topics that do tend to be controversial are the use of the charm on clinically depressed patients. Casting a temporary charm on a depressed person will only mask the symptoms for a small amount of time. When the charm wears off, they will feel the full effects of the depression again, this time even worse. It's like falling from a roof in comparison to tripping off a curb. A mood crash after a Cheering Charm will only bring them lower than before because they know how happy they could be, they just can't. It's in those sort of times when the people need real treatment, not just a cover for the symptoms.

Cheering Charms should never be used as a medical treatment or anything of the sort. Using them can make the person dependant on the charm in order to stay happy. When they don't have the charm, their thoughts might be worse. This sort of thing can lead to even worse thoughts, like suicide. The exception to medical treatment is using it for PMSing girls. It would probably be at its most useful then. Using them to cheer up a friend after a bad day or something is perfectly fine, but the charm isn't meant for any more than that. You have to be careful with how you use the spell. What would happen if the spell was done wrong (Professor, this isn't a rhetorical question)? Could the person be effected by their sadness even more?

Cheering Charms should only be used in light situations when a friend or family member might need a boost. In my opinion, you should never ever use it for medical use or on someone with a mental condition. It would help only briefly and they might end off worse than they began.

The Diffendo spell can be very useful. If you have failed to equip yourself with a knife, you may use the spell. There is a disability to the charm though. Even if it helps to be able to use the charm, you would not be able to perfect a cut. If suppose, you were cutting ingredients for a potion, the spell could be incapable to correctly cut your ingredients. Also, you must be very practiced in using the spell, otherwise the results could be disastorous. If you were not practiced in the spell, you could easily perform it wrong and have a completly different outcome or no outcome at all. That would leave you in trouble, or prove to be completly useless. You also have the trouble of being good at aiming. If you cannot aim the spell, you could easily miss, and hit something valuable, or you could cut at the wrong spot. Also if the spell was brought into an untrained wizards hand, he could eaisly try it on another human, where any effects could be very dangerous, and may even cause death. To conclude, the spell would have to be practiced, used correctly and non-violently, and said witch or wizard using it would have to have good aim.
