Two letters arrived for Professor Kijewski on the leg of the same owl. The first was written in a masculine hand.

Professor Kijewski,

I grant my daughter, Holly Greer, permission to attend an overnight field trip to the Winged Horse Ranch Retreat.

The second was in flowing feminine script.

Dear Professor Kijewski,
