Do the students have access to the secrets list during the class? This was ambiguous, and I'm not sure whether they're meant to be using these (making it quite easy) or their own knowledge/intuition about people. I get that some of the false copies also know the secrets but that just makes them able to do a better job of passing whatever the task is.

No, when I originally wrote it, I had imagined that each group would come up with one question and one answer, kind of like a group wide password. Thus, the students would have had to remember this. Since some would know this password, then the students would have to use a combination of knowledge and the password. However, it seems to have evolved into something else now due to unclear instructions on my part.Ass for the group "passwords" if people still want to go this way then it'll just be a first come first serve, you can respond to this message with the question and answer for your group so everyone can see :)
Otherwise, we can keep going with the "secret" thing, keeping in mind that the secrets would be shared with all the members of your student's particular group. Keep in mind, these are not necessarily secrets. It could be a completely arbitrary q&a like:
Q: how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
A: 42.

A couple of authors have mentioned their own secret questions in their head, but it hasn't yet been used by anyone out loud. I think it would be easier to have group questions because it's going to be hard to know what all the questions and answers should be if they're all individual (especially as some authors are less active) which means our characters would need and have information that we, as authors, end up with no way of accessing.For one group, how about 'How do you recognise an imposter?' as the question - and the set answer is 'There's only one real way.' It'd be fun if this is the real group. Plus it's a question that's not going to stand out as much to people listening in. I feel that the groups would have enough smart people in to do some theorising about what effective counter-espionage measures would be, and to come up with something like this.
