Private flying lessons. TAGETH: Hyana by Josiah Ashwood

Josaih smiled from ear to ear. This was going to be great! Spotty clouds, good for keeping the sun out of the eyes, and a firm ground, perfect for takeoff. And he was teaching a certain hot asian how to fly.

He clutched two brooms, one in each hand. On the ground at his feet there was a muggle hackysack ball. He had bought it because it was red like a quaffle. It was charmed using the 'engorgio' spell by his mother until it was about the size of a quaffle. He was going to have to look up the shrinking spell and hope he could do it.

He got on his broom, a nice firebolt, and took off as fast and as high as he could go. The sharpshooter company claimed to get to over a hundred feet in fifty seconds. He wanted to see if the firebolt could do the same. Well, he wouldn't go quite that high. He wasn't sure if humans could breathe that high. At about twenty feet, however, a figure in teh distance caught his eye. Black hair. Good, Hyana was here already.

He decended at a nicer, safer speed and touched the ground lightly. Runnign up to Hyana he hugged her. "OH YOU CAME!" he yelled. Then he backed up, picked up the Nimbus 2001 off the ground, and handed it to her. "We're gonna fly first, then we'll try and have you catch stuff on the broom." he said in a rush. "Follow me! Just put a leg over the broom handle, kick, and hold on as tight as you can. Point it parallel to the ground and kind ofpull back slightly on teh handle to have it stop. If you fall, theres ha big hackysack. Try and fall on it. Or the grass. Yeah, I know the medic can help. Okay, c'mon!" He sprang into the air about ten feet and waited for teh girl to follow. \n\n

I hatheth arrive...eth by Hyana Kamiya

Hyana walked down the quidditch pitch, smiling to herself. This was going to be so much fun. She secretly wondered what it would be like to fly. High...I'll go high up in the air She shuddered, dismissing the thought. Flying a broom had to be different than a muggle plane. Yeah, just higher up with nothing around you to protect you when you fall and nothing to grab onto but the broom...I can't do this! She was about to leave but she heard Josiah scream.

OH YOU CAME! Next thing she knew, Josiah was hugging her. She sort of tensed. Ummm...why is he hugging me? She thought, still scared. "H-hi Josiah." She finally said when the boy let her go. He handed her a broom, a Nimbus 2001, and started quickly explaining how to fly. Her head seemed to spin. How the heck was she going to understand all of this?! Then what Josiah said made her feel so much better.

If you fall, theres ha big hackysack. Try and fall on it. Or the grass. Yeah, I know the medic can help. Then he sprang high into the air before she could respond. She looked at her broom. It was such a foriegn thing to her. Hopefully she wouldn't fall on her face.

She swung leg over the broom handle and counted to three. Then she pushed off into the air and held on as tightly as she could, her eyes squeezed shut. She slowly opened one and got dizzy. She was so high up! She slowly opened her other eye, and started to relax. A line of a song played through her head, 'I'm flying high, defying gravity.' She smiled. So this is what it felt like.

"This is so cool! I love it up here!" She cried. She flew next to Josiah, a huge grin on her face. She never wanted to go back to the ground. \n\n

Unbelievable! by Amy Fox

The year had been going along at an amazingly slow pace. In truth, Amy was want to believe that this newest year was taking the cake for the slowest year ever. Wolfe was horrid and Simon had teased her something terrible at the beginning of the term and she had taken to avoiding him- and, in truth, almost everyone since. Time spent on the pitch was the only useful and enjoyable time she found. Flying lessons would be beginning soon too.

"Great," Amy mumbled underneath her breath as she stumbled out of her office and onto the pitch with the full intent of flying. That was until she saw one figure, slowly followed by another, ascend into the air. "Blast it all." Amy quickly noticed that at least one of the students was an unskilled flyer.

Why couldn't these students just wait for the flying lessons? It was all very simple, really. Come to the lessons, learn how to fly from a professional. Why did students insist on learning from their equally unskilled peers who were likely to do them more harm than good? Why?

Why does this always have to happen to me? Amy raged as she fumbled through her pockets in search of her wand. Upon locating it, she quickly cast a Sonorus upon herself.

"Hey you," she yelled, her voice magically amplified. "Get out of the air and onto the ground now!"\n\n

Noooo! I dont wanna be in trouble! by Josaih

"This is so cool! I love it up here!" He grinned. So Hyana had made it up here on her own without dying. That's good. At least she didn't fall. He was worried she would fall. After all, the first time he was on a broom, on the way down he tilted his brrom handle too steeply and slipped right off. His mother gave him a long talk about broom safety after that. He glanced her over. A little shaken, surely, but she seemed happy.

"Flying is the best thing in the world, I say," he said with a flirtatious grin. "Okay, next lets try flying in a straight line to gather some speed. Not too fast, don't want you to fall off."

He was about to zoom off screaming "follow me!" when he saw someone approaching them. His first thought was 'for an adult she's pretty attractive!'. His second thought was 'Oh god, she looks a little mad.' He yelped as he saw a wand come out and huddled as close to his broom as possible.

It appeared to be only a voice amplifying charm "Hey you," she yelled, her voice magically amplified. "Get out of the air and onto the ground now!" Oh no!

"Come on. I guess we won't learn speeding up. Gently point it towards the ground. A nice gental angle. Not too steep. And don't go too fast. Meet you down there." Josaih sighed. Mother was going to be so angry.

He dived down to the ground as fast as he could yelling after him, "Do as I say, not as I do!" to Hyana. HE pulled out of the dive a safe distance from the ground and glided to a landing.

He paled when he looked at the quidditch coach. Oh no! She looked scary. Not Drake O'Leary scary, mind you, but scary none-the-less. "Mercy?" he squeaked, barely keeping his knees from shaking.

No choice, buddy. by Amy Fox

OOC: Josiah, please remember to take an extra moment to check your spelling before posting. Thanks! BIC:

Mercy? Mercy??? What did she look like- a freaking priest or nun? She was most assuredly neither and she had never hoped to become one. Taking a moment to calm her already agitated nerves, she settled her gaze on the boy in front of her. He was obviously a somewhat experienced flyer- which meant that the one in the air was the one he had taken with him.

Breathing in deeply, she began to yell. "WHAT-" The word echoed loudly through the pitch, reminding Amy that she had yet to remove the amplification charm. Quickly removing the charm, she began again, "What do you think you were doing?" she yelled. "Why in the world would you feel that you had enough skill to take an unexperienced flyer into the air? How would you save her should she have fallen? Would you mind telling me? Because I would like to know."

Amy paused for a moment, taking a deep breath, before beginning to pace back and forth between the boy. "Are you so skilled in charms that you would be able to save her should she fall from that height? Do you think you'd be able to dive and dramatically save her should she slip off? And- then neither injure her or you? You not only put that girl in danger, but put yourself in danger. So what- please tell me, what do you have to say for yourself?"

*cries* by Josaih

OOC: Sorry, if it was a genuine typo, then my fault. I have horrid spelling in any case.

IC:Josiah's face was becoming progressivly paler by the second. Remember what he had thought earlier about her not being as scary as the DADA teacher? He took it back. She was twenty times as scary. That is why he screamed when her voice came booming out, still magically amplified. He tried to step away from her, but tripped over his own feet.

As he gathered himself onto his feet again, he felt slightly annoyed. What, did she think he would be so irresposible as to teach her without having experience himself? Did she think he wouldn't do whatever it would take to catch her? Did she?

He jutted his jaw forward, then thought better of it. She would probably rightly guess that she offended him and would therefore become more vengeful. He took on a more pleading look.

"I wasn't...it isn't like I didn't know what I was doing," he paused feeling that was a tad rude. "Ma'am" he added. There better. In his worry he slipped back into his "proper" role.

"I felt myself perfectly capable of handling the situation. And should the need for help for my companion have arose, I would have done everything within my human power to help. Furthermore, I have some experience on a broom and felt myself capable of teaching her at a safe distance in the air." He was tempted to add that he'd been flying his whole life, but though better of it, "And, should medical attention have been required, I have full faith in our Medic at school and would have taken my companion into his capable hands."

There, that should do it. It wasn't so cheecky as to make her more angry and it wasn't begging for forgiveness either. Actually, the latter sounded quite appealing seeing as his mother would flog him if he ever dishonored the family name. He swalowed a bit to ease the nausious nervousness that had settled into his stomach. All his senses told him but he stayed rooted to the spot weither from fear or common sense he didn't know.\n\n

You Argue With Me? by Amy Fox

Amy waited momentarily as the little bratling decided to spout off a retort. Obviously, he didn't know who he was dealing with or he would have kept his trap shut and just dealt with the consequences. Instead, he decided to respond with a 'holier than thou' answer and had dug himself deeper.

Much deeper.

Pausing mid-pace, Amy sucked in a deep breath. Exhaling slowly, the breath coming out in an audible hiss, Amy mentally tried to count to ten. Only making it to three, Amy inwardly frowned. Anger management was really going to have to become a top of her priorities.

"It wasn't like you...you knew you were doing," Amy began, her voice menacingly soft. "You're what- eleven? You're so skilled that you think you are capable to teach other students? You get paid on a regular basis to do so to, I'm sure," Amy added sarcastically. This child was so bound and determined to think highly of himself that he didn't even realize the danger.

"See, the thing is kid, no matter how "skilled" you think you are, you aren't skilled enough to teach another student on my pitch. What you may consider a safe distance, I consider to be stupid. You have neither the skill in flying nor the muscle capacity to handle a situation such as this."

Her eyes raked up and down the kid's body as she took in the situation- a multitude of scenarios running through her mind. He thought he was able to protect the girl. "Answer me this, if you can, what if the girl had fallen, broken her neck and died? What would you, with your adequate skills, have done then? Run and gotten the Medic. I'm sure that he would have been able to miraculously bring her back to life."

Raking a hand through her hair, she glanced to the sky, wondering what was taking the girl so long. "See, the thing is, if that girl had gotten injured it would be my fault. I am responsible for the students on this pitch. The thing you don't seem to get, kid, is that everything in your power isn't good enough. It won't be good enough until I pronounce you a skilled enough flier and, from what I've just seen, you've still got a ways to go. I've been flying professionally for some time and so I have been employed to teach the students at this school how to fly. Do you understand?" \n\n

Sorry I took so long, RL in the way by Hyana Kamiya

Hyana listened to Josiah's instructions and flew to the ground. She landed, well, how you would expect a beginner to land. She didn't hurt herself, just stumbled a little bit. She clutched her broom close to her chest, this women...Amy, scared her. She was yelling at Josiah, and he seemed upset. Like he was going to cry. Hyana looked from Amy and Josiah, and took a deep breath.

"M-m-ma'am." She squeaked, trembling. Her whole body was shaking, she had to get herself together! "Please, J-josiah was teaching me because I a-asked. I didn't know about fl-flying lessons. P-please don't get him in trouble..." she trailed off, her voice failing her. She squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for her share of the yelling. \n\n

Oh dear...i'm in deep trouble... by Josaih

Josiah really felt fainting would be the proper course. He was about to do so, until he heard hyana stumble behind him. Way to prove her point, Hyana he thought sarcastically. He looked at the Coach before him, awesome in her fury. Gosh, he really wished he could pass out. Somehow, his brain wouldn't let him. Oh well, time to stick it out.

"No, Hyana, you didn't ask if you remember. I offered. Do not try and get yourself in trouble 'cause I was a complete and total idiot." He said with a firm glare.

He turned to Coach Fox, "Yes, you are right. Of course I was stupid. I didn't think. I was a complete idiot. I thought I could handle it. I thought Mr. Wolfe" He didn't know if that was the term for a medic, but he thought it worked either way, "Could handle any situation. I never thought that she could..." he paused, and took a shaky breath, "Could have died or anything. I guess I was just a complete idiot. You are right, you make the money here, you are the professional, and I know you are more experienced than I can ever hope to be," He had heard a rumor that she had once played pro quidditch, "So, yeah, I guess I deserve anything you want to throw at me. Just please, don't punish Hyana. She isn't to blame." He gazed pleadingly at her. HE didn't want his new friend/sister to be punished because he hadn't the brain compacity to think of if she had broken her neck!\n\n

Oh, Martyr it all. by Amy Fox

Amy watched as the girl finally landed, very novice in skill. At least the child hadn't been injured and thus she couldn't be blamed. A frown pursing her lips, she listened as the girl tried to plead her friend's case. It was almost more than she could handle.

She was just about to respond when the boy spoke up yet again, acting as the martyr of the situation. It was one thing to accept blame for something you had done, but it was something totally different to shoulder all of the blame. Amy fought the urge to roll her eyes. She was surrounded by a pair of eleven year old martyrs in making.

And then, to top it all off, the kid started to ramble on about his stupidity, a fact that was obviously true, but to hear it from his own lips seemed rather comical. What kind of a child openly admitted idiocy?

Sighing, Amy waited for the boy to end before speaking. "Honestly, I don't care who asked who or who volunteered or, well, let's just be honest, I don't care. The fact of the matter is that you both took it upon yourselves to be foolish.

"And you," Amy stated, turning to face the girl. "You didn't know about flying lessons? I'm sure that it has been stated numerous times and was also in your acceptance letter. Thus why you were informed to bring a broom if you owned one. Pay more attention."

Tapping her foot on the ground, Amy paused for a moment. "Both of you will be receiving detention. I believe the next two Saturdays should suffice. And if I ever see the two of you doing this again, be sure that the consequences will be much worse."\n\n
