Aladrens this way! by Professor Pye

It had been a really rough summer. The first one that Alfie had spent without even a day of Cecily. There had been so many times that he'd been tempted to go over to her place and reverse the charms he'd put on her and Jake, but his love for her safety, happiness, and all around well-being kept him from doing so. Not only that but something had happened. Something big had happened and he was terrified and really worried about what it would mean for both himself and Barnaby.

As a result, he was not in a good mood when he returned to Sonora. He smiled tersely at both Amelle and Isis, glad they had each found someone they genuinely cared about and who genuinely cared about them, and sat at the end of the staff table away from them so that he wouldn't have to lie about how amazing his summer had been so they wouldn't worry. He knew they each did worry about him, but Isis was persistent with her questions while Amelle just accepted what it was that he told her.

He took his time eating since he knew he had to stay to bring the first years up to Aladren house, and as the first dishes began to be cleared away he stood up from his place at the table. "Aladrens, please follow me," he said, lazily using his wand to cast a Sonorus charm on his voice. He wasn't about to shout over the bustle and lose his voice as well as his heart. "I'll be taking you to your common room shortly."

Alfie nodded to the staff members who were seated near him and walked down to collect his new first years. He wondered if he would have time to sneak out to the pub later that night. He didn't think he would be inviting Amelle or Isis or Rory. He needed some alone time.
