Considering your suggestion [reply to Madeleine] by Louis Valois
Louis had just finished dinner, and was sitting at the table chatting to Emmy-Lou when he was unexpectedly joined by Madeleine Dautin. He was, of course, always friendly to the younger French students, but didn’t really spend lots of time with them, especially as they were in different classes. However, he had no objection to spending time with them, and was quite pleased that Madeleine had come up to him. He excused himself from his conversation with Emmy in order to pay more attention to Madeleine.“Ça peut être sympa, ouais,” he replied, enjoying being able to slip back into his native language. “Mais vraiment j’ai pas décidé ce que je veux faire, parce-que de découvrir un nouveau pays pourrait être aussi intéressant.”
He had already been planning on signing up for the fair and, like Madeleine, had considered signing up for the French table. However, the thought of learning more about another country and another culture was also really tempting, especially if they could look at muggle culture too. That was definitely something he didn’t know much about for any country, even if he was now trying to rectify that fact. In all honestly, he probably would have signed up for a country other than France if Madeleine hadn’t made him pause. If she and Sébastien wanted to spend more time with him, that would be nice.
Louis might have problems with some of the fundamental ideas of pureblood society, but he didn’t specifically extend this dislike to individual members. He was very much an advocate of the ‘innocent until proven guilty’ idea and, so far, Madeleine and Sébastien hadn’t been proven guilty. There was something about the younger boy that irritated him slightly, but he couldn’t find a reason as to why, so he was trying to ignore that. Maybe working with him for the fair would help with that, even if it meant he couldn’t learn about a new country.
Louis shrugged, finding it hard to make a decision. However, Madeleine was the one who wanted him to choose so, really, the ball was in her court. He smiled at the younger girl. “Alors, c’est à toi de me persuader!”
