It had been a very eventful summer, one that had made Florence feel more like a young woman in her thirties than a witch approaching fifty-five. Now looking at these young, fresh students, she was reminded of how silly she had been in her youth. It made her miss her childhood days back in Italy before she and her family had moved to the States. It would always be difficult for her to adjust to the desert every year, but it her home now. The only question was whether her new fiancé would want to call this place his home too.
Any avid theatre-goer in America would know Florence’s Italian features, her dark hair, and her voice, particularly those of the wizarding world. Her acting days had ended after her first husband's death, however, and her passion was now a hobby. Charms and teaching had become her new passion and every year Florence was a little gentler towards the younger students, a little more loving as she prepared her lessons, and a lot more comfortable standing in front of children and teaching subjects she enjoyed. Sometimes she even forgot that she was only a stand-in Quidditch coach until Sonora was able to find a permanent coach.
Once the feast was over, Florence stood tall near the doors and called the new Pecaris. Her robes for today were a splash of vibrant colors mixing and clashing together. On her head she wore a mauve cloche hat that women in the 1920’s might have worn with a peacock feather sticking out of it. She took pride in her more eccentric wardrobe, something the first-years would soon come to know after several classes with her.
For now, she was relatively unknown as she called one last time for any straggling Pecaris. Once all the eleven-year-olds had gathered, Florence smiled and clasped her hands together. "I think that's everyone. Welcome, Pecaris. I am Professor Olivers, your Head of House, Charms professor, and the current Quidditch coach. You'll get to know me well over the next several years. Let's get you to your new home. Follow me." She turned on her heel then and glided out into the hallway.
