Predictably, Diana’s summer had been long. She had once had a lovely apartment in Los Angeles—the farthest away her Seattle based parents had allowed her to go. However, since accepting the job at Sonora she had sold her flat and moved back in with her parents upon their insistence. It was a waste of money, they had said to her, paying rent on a place she would only live in three months out of the year. Once she turned eighteen and was accepted into university, Diana had been out of there. She’d had enough with their over-controlling behavior paired with the home-schooling they had insisted on. Last winter had proved to her just how little they had changed since her homeschool days and she had not been looking forward to spending the summer with them. Luckily Stephen and Henry were only a floo call away and she had spent countless hours stealing floo powder from her parents and sneaking away to her brother’s London flat (their ever-cautious parents had cast anti- apparition wards on the house and surrounding areas) where she’d had several awkward run-ins with a strange downstairs neighbor, Alfred Pye.
The last weekend she had spent with Stephen and Henry had been lovely and her brother offered to let her move in with them the next summer if she liked which Diana had, of course, been more than happy to do. So, she entered Cascade Hall for the Opening Feast with an extra spring in her step. Her good mood carried over through dinner conversation with her fellow staff members and when it came time to take the first years to the Aladren common room for the first time she nearly skipped to the the table of blue students, her bracelets jingling slightly. “Aladren first years, if you could all follow me, please,” Diana said once she approached the students. “I shall take you to your common room along with your prefects.” Diana waved the younger students into place. “Congratulations on Head Boy, by the way Mr. Carey,” she said with a smile as they began to walk up to the common room.
OOC: It is not necessary to reply to this post, although you may if you wish to. This thread will be continued in the Aladren Common Room, where you now have permission to post. You may also continue your threads at the feast, due to something we call 'fuzzy time' – this is where you are posting in two threads at the same time, but they are taking place at different times from your character's perspective, therefore s/he is not in two places at once.
