Being home for midterm had been great for Pippa. In fact, she'd had such a wonderful time that now that she was back at Sonora, she was homesick all over again. Not that it had been perfect, Tawny had been terribly jealous of Pippa's puffskien, even though she didn't like animals as much as Pippa did. It was just whatever Pippa had, Tawny wanted, the end result being the younger girl getting her own puffskien. Pippa wasn't too terribly worried about the critter as it was low maintenance and she couldn't conceive of anyone hurting an animal on purpose, especially not her own sister. She didn't even think it would be hurt by accident as it seemed to pacify Tawny.
Still, Pippa had loved being around her family again. Sure, there were technically many relatives here at school, but they weren't people she knew . Well, she knew of Quentin, if not on a personal level. He had quite a reputation for a first year. It wasn't something Pippa would have wanted at all. She didn't like to be the center of attention. She preferred the background and was glad to not be so well-known.
It might have been easier to come back to school if Pippa had more friends. So far, she only had made friends with Nathaniel really. Pippa wasn't sure why she didn't have more. Maybe it was because of the lack of people in Teppenpaw. The people in other houses were more likely to make friends with people in their own house and she kind of felt alone.
But maybe she had to take more of an initiative instead of waiting for someone else to do something. Pippa could have tried harder, but she'd just been trying to adjust to life at Sonora, without her parents and sister (the latter of which an objective party might have considered a good thing, but Pippa missed Tawny all the same) and being around people she just wasn't used to.
So when Pippa spotted someone sitting all alone, she walked up to them and said, "Hi, mind if I join you?"
