Last night of the term! aka prank time!
by Elly Eriksson
There were very few occasions on which Elly made any sort of effort with her appearance. Yet tonight, the last night of the year, was one of those rare occasions. On the last day she would wear her uniform robe until the new year, Elly had ensured all her clothes were straight and neat. Her hair was combed and tied back with a clip; she'd even borrowed some of Danae's hair serum to make her ginger curls shine in quite a pleasant way.
Even her fingernails were clean.
Of course, cleaning up wasn't the only feature that was special to this evening. It was only proper that, as she was leaving the school for several weeks, Elly left with a bang. Not quite literally, but a prank was certainly in order. As usual, Elly didn't give any appearance of being about to cause chaos. She looked perfectly calm, and had no belongings with her... no visible belongings, anyway. In each of her pockets, Elly had one of the minature drgaon models she'd displayed at the fair. Upon reaching her usual table, Elly grinned widely at its occupants. Between the dishes, she placed the Common Welsh Green and the slightly smaller Welsh Red. A short engorgio charm later, and two fire-brathing dragons, each about a foot tall, were stomping up and down the table.
"My treat for the evening," Elly said, with a slightly manic smile. Then, with the cover of the dragons, she prepared her real prank. The spell she'd been previously unable to master had become her project over the past month, and finally, she managed to get it to work. Mostly.
With a muttered spell and covert under-the-table wand movements, Elly cast a wonderfully peculiar enchantment. With no warning, all the potatoes in the Cascade Hall - baked and boiled, but sadly not mashed - got up and began to dance. Elly had been hoping for a tapdance, but the tubers only managed a lame jig. Still, better than nothing.
The best bit was yet to come: within seconds, the potatoes started singing. The sound was barely audible - and in Spanish - but nobody could argue that there was a room full of singing, dancing potatoes. Now that was hilarious.
OOC: Feel free to join in and write for the veg ;)

It was the last night before summer came and Meredith was excited and a little anxious to go home. But mostly excited. She was in two completely different mindsets now and back when she had the option to go home for midterm. She wanted to see her father and the twins again and make sure they were okay. In the return letter from Max and Anthony she was told that everything was fine except for the house and they were going to need her feminine touch to keep it clean over the summer. Mere shook her head with a laugh. But that would come later. For the time being she wanted to enjoy her last night of fourth year with her friends.
And a grand night it aimed to be because it was time for Elly's annual entertainment. She always pulled something out at the end of the year and it was always fantastic in such an Elly way. Thoughts of the ball crossed her mind making her grin. And then the girl of the hour arrived. Mere waved as Elly came towards her at their usual spot in Cascade Hall looking more made up than she normally was, but that was the only thing she could notice. Meredith tended to skip the uniform robe when she could and even when she shouldn't. The most she adorned with her casual tee shirt, jeans and beater hair tie was her mother's ring.
Mere returned the greeting grin as Elly reached them and placed two dragon figurines from their fair booth on the table. She gave them and Elly a questioning look, but a moment later they were a foot taller and were rattling the dishes they trekked past. Mere smiled as they journeyed the length of the table, but unless there were more dragons and they were going to start flying and spewing some realistic fire overhead, this was rather low-key for Elly. She wasn't going to start doubting her friend though. There was always something up her sleeve.
Mere's smile widened as she watched the dragons traipse along the table; the nearest one swished its tail and tipped her plate off balance. She quickly stilled it, only losing a few grains of rice, and when she looked up her eyes widened momentarily before she burst out laughing. The baked potatoes from a serving dish next to her were doing lazy ballerina twirls while singing something Meredith didn't understand in Spanish. She wondered if Matt and Josh would get a kick out of this.
Mere looked around for the boys to see their reactions and saw that there were dancing spuds all over Cascade Hall. She turned back to Elly with a thumbs up, unable to speak because she was still laughing in a barely controlled manner that she hadn't been able to pull off in a long time.
