Fifth and Sixth years, your attention please!
by Headmaster Bulla
At dinner the night before it had been announced, much as it had been the year before, that all fifth and sixth year students would be excused from the first twenty minutes of their first class of the next day and would be required to meet in the Cascade Hall once breakfast was formally over.
Manfred looked sombre and serious as the students gathered around. At his side were neat piles of papers, quills and ink, the latter two in case students had not thought to bring their own.
When it looked like they were all there he did a quick headcount and, recognising no older or younger students in the crowd stood up to address them.
"Thank you for all being here. As the sixth years have no doubt realised, this isn't anything that any of you need to worry about, although I do hope that you will take your responsibilities in voting seriously. I have here the forms - one for each of you - so you can anonymously vote for next year's Head Boy and Head Girl. Please do not discuss who you are going to vote for. The upcoming Fair will include the announcement for who will take on those roles during the next year. Now, if you could please take one of these and pass them along," he handed the pile of forms to the nearest student. "Try and find a spot on your own and when you've made your decision fill the form in - if you need writing materials they are on the desk for your use - hand the forms back to me."
OOC: Form is here. Voting is in character and as anonymous as you choose to make it. Votes from ineligible characters, random strangers, anonymous people, etc will be ignored. How this year's vote goes will determine how the following year's Head Boy and Girl are chosen.
Answering this isn't necessary, however voting is if you want your character to have their say.

Several possibilities came to mind when the Headmaster informed the sixth and seventh years to miss their first classes of the day and stick around the Hall. He reluctantly discounted a pizza party as unlikely due to the early hour, but thought some kind of assembly about the dangers of drinking and apperating or some other kind of thing teenagers were prone to get themselves killed doing was definitely possible. Or it could be about the RATS. Or a colleges presentation. Or . . .
Or, a chance to vote on the next Head Boy and Girl, as it turned out. Cool. Almost as good as the pizza party, except there wasn't any pepperoni.
And as he marked off his choice for Head Boy - Adam Whitney was Conner's roommate, right? - Brockert was the one in Saul's year and there weren't any other Adams in the school, were there? - Saul sat up abruptly as something IMPORTANT occurred to him suddenly.
Next year, it could be his name on this list.
He should start campaigning. Over the summer, he'd make posters. He'd need a campaign slogan. Party affiliation. The Pizza Party would be a good one, he thought. Didn't matter if it didn't exist. It would by next September. And he'd give out free pizza along with the buttons. It would be awesome.
Lessee, who was his competition? Brockert? No. Easy win there. The Geoffs. Layne might be tough. He was pretty smart and stuff, and the current Head Boy was an Aladren, so definitely shouldn't discount him. Spindler wasn't a bad candidate either. He'd been in the news and stuff and was a real honest to Merlin hero or something. Spindler could totally work that in his favor. Huge competition there.
Guenther? Another Aladren, friends with this year's Head Boy, and a prefect, too, but quiet and didn't really put himself out there too much. Saul thought he had a decent chance against him. Devian Dupree was also an Aladren but even quieter and much easier to overlook than the giant Guenther. Of the Aladrens, Devian was the least competition. Besides, Devian was a horrible name for someone in public office. Nobody could win an election with a name like that. It was spelled too much like 'devious'.
Teppenpaw and Pecari had no other boys left, so that was everyone him might go up against. It was definitely the Geoffs were would be the toughest to beat. Guenther, too, maybe, but his best claim to fame was being a Prefect, and Saul had that, too.
Of course, Saul wasn't exactly the poster child of prefectlyness, but he was totally way more popular. Saul had won 'Most Popular' in the year book nearly every year so far, and that had to count for something. He totally had a shot at Head Boy. Plus, Quidditch Captain next year, too. That would up his coolness factor by a huge amount. But Spindler would have that boost, too, plus he was 'Most Quidditch Obsessed' in the yearbook, so Quidditch fans might lean towards him, especially ones from Crotalus.
Campaigning was definitely a must.
He was so engrossed thinking up a good slogan, the next time he came back to the present, voting sheets were being collected and everyone was getting shooed out to their next class. Saul hurriedly picked a Head Girl to vote for and turned his ballot in.
Saul was so going to be Head Boy in two years.\r\n\r\n
