Here we go again (Team 15 Meeting, Water Room)
by Duncan Brockert
The last time the school had done the challenges, neither Duncan nor any relative he knew well had been here, so he didn't really know a lot about them. Nevertheless, he would be leading a team this time and in hindsight, it made him pretty glad that he'd taken charge last year with the Intermediate concert group because it meant that he had at least a little experience with something like this.
He'd looked over his team to see who was on it and smiled when he'd seen Araceli's name among them. She was someone he genuinely enjoyed being around and was glad to have her. In addition to the fourth year, Duncan was on the same team as Brandon Carey and Tobi Reinhardt, neither of whom he knew well, but had always seemed pleasant enough. Then there were some younger students, whose names he didn't know at all, though presumably Joe was related to Julian Umland, whom though he'd not known her well, he'd seen her as a pretty nice person and a decent prefect.
Then he'd looked over who his other friends were with, noting that Jake was with Ginger whom the fifth year seemed to like an awful lot so he should be happy. Serena was with a bunch of people that she didn't know well, which worried Duncan a bit but he did get the impression that Liac and Ava were nice enough people so he believed she'd be fine.
Liliana was with Leonidas Bennett who after Theodore was probably one of her biggest Quidditch rivals what with him being the Aladren captain, but he couldn't remember her ever having a specific issue with the other sixth year so Duncan was sure she could put all that aside and work together. After all, if she could deal with Jamie Park as a teammate on a regular basis, certainly, she could work with Leonidas. On the other hand, Liliana did have to deal with Jamie's...partner-in-crime, Uzume Shinohara. She was Araceli's roommate but Araceli never said much about her besides things like that she was from a good family in a tone that suggested Araceli was being polite because she had to be. Sometimes Duncan worried that there was something up, that the other girl wasn't that nice to Araceli because well, there was probably a reason Uzume was friends with Jamie. Or it could simply be that Araceli was a proper young lady and horrified by her roommate's behavior. He didn't know but hoped it was the latter, he'd hate to think someone was being actually mean to her.
As for Tasha, she was with Isaac Douglas which didn't thrill him, but on the other hand she was with Makenzie Newell who was Araceli's best friend. Much like how Uzume's association with Jamie Park-as well his friend's strained politeness on the rare occasions she spoke of the girl-made him not trust her, he figured that if Araceli liked Makenzie, that she was probably a good kind person.
Now though, he had to get together with his own team, as he strongly felt it was a good idea to get together and meet beforehand. Not so much to strategize, as they didn't know what the challenge events were yet-but to just get to know each other in a way and feel more comfortable together so they could be more successful at the challenges at hands.
Having been in this position before and been basically successful, Duncan went about setting up the meeting the same way with refreshments in the water room, showing the same picnic scene that had been there the day they'd met for the concert. Once everyone had arrived, Duncan rose. "Hello everyone and welcome to the Team 15 meeting. I am Duncan Brockert of the Western Brockerts and I've decided that we should meet before the challenges and get to know each other a bit. Can we all go around and introduce ourselves please? Don't forget to help yourself to some of the refreshments if you would like." He sat back down, sneaking a smile at Araceli.
