Saying Farewell by Adam Whitney

Adam stood in the Entrance Hall the first day of midterm waiting to see Dalila off. She would be heading back to Los Angeles without him. Not that Adam minded, of course. He'd spent a couple of midterms at Sonora as it was due to his mother being far too nervous about letting him on the wagons more than absolutely necessary. And he was just fine with that. But Adam had grown so used to having Dalila around him since summer that a couple weeks away from her would feel rather lonely.

He rubbed his chest self-consciously while waiting for her. Ever sense the conversation he'd had with Nicoletta in the gardens and the attack he had had, Adam hadn't been the same. His chest always seemed to have a dull ache in it. Most of the time he could ignore it, but there were times when it became so excruciating that he had to use some more of his potion just to get it back down to the dull ache.

He never told his parents, of course, in the many letters that they exchanged over the first half of the year. If he did, they would have pulled him from school and sent him straight to a hospital bed. That was something Adam just couldn't deal with. The pain was stress induced. He was a fifth year now and exams were coming closer and closer. Not to mention that he still felt so guilty over everything. He cared greatly for Dalila, but he was still in love with Nicoletta. And knowing that alone caused him plenty of stress.

He held that wrapped box in his hands. His mother had taken him shopping over the summer after he received a decent bill of health from his Healer. While shopping, he had saw these and thought of Dalila. He had been thinking about giving them to her sooner, but he knew that he wouldn't have been able to afford another gift for her on the holidays. It was better that he waited until now.

Adam stood up straighter and grinned as he saw his girlfriend finally approach. "Why do you girls seem to take forever?" He teased when she was in range.

Dalila Bastet

Parting is such sweet sorrow by Dalila Bastet

Dalila had woken up that morning, assuming it was just an ordinary day. She showered, brushed her teeth, got dressed and ventured down into the common room, where she saw a mess of trunks and luggage and people hugging goodbye. She was leaving today for midterm. Rushing back up the staircase, Dalila pulled out her wand and began summoning things from her drawers and under her bed.

Silently thanking Merlin that she had perfected her summoning charm, she managed to haphazardly pack everything in only a few minutes. Stuffing the last of her things into her trunk, Dalila sat on the lid to make it close and then levitated it down the staircase and into the common room. One more quick dash up to the room she shared with Lexi, and one more summoning charm, got her cat, Nut, into her carrying case and levitated it down to the common room.

She practically ran to the front entrance, followed closely by her trunk and a very scared cat. Seeing Adam standing there, Dalila stopped suddenly, causing the trunk to tap her on the back, which she didn't seem to notice. She had forgotten he was staying at Sonora. Feeling less exuberant than before, she walked up to him.

Adam!" she said, slightly out of breath as she gave him a hug. "I didn't take forever. In fact, I only started packing fifteen minutes ago," she gloated. Her eyes caught something in Adam's hands and she glanced down.

Is that for me?" she asked with a smile. "Cause I got something for you too." Dalila had forgotten about Adam's present and had packed it. Frowning, she opened her trunk and pulled out a fair few things before finding a small Christmas-themed bag containing a brand new deck of Exploding Snap cards with flying Quidditch paraphernalia on them.

She shoved everything back into her trunk before handing Adam the slightly crumpled bag with a big grin, at the same time, eying the box Adam was still holding.

That I shall say good night till it be morrow. by Adam

Adam was highly amused by Dalila as hse came happily into his arms for a hug. "Only fifteen minutes ago?" Adam asked her slightly surprised by the news. He would have thought she would have been packed days ago. Okay, maybe not. This was Dalila afterall and she seemed to like to do everything quickly and in a hurry. Still, fifteen minutes seemed to be pushing her luck.

Her attention was brought down to his gift and he looked at the box in his hands as she pointed it out. Already though, Dalila was tearing through her junk in search for something. She had a lot of energy, so much Adam which she could transfer some over to him. He felt very drained and even moreso with all the studying he's had to do if he wanted decent marks on his CATs. Though, he tried not to ever let it show when he was around everyone. Especially around Dalila. She might ask questions and then something might get back to his mom and that was never a good thing.

"Thanks." Adam said as he took the bag from Dalila. After a moments hesitation, he handed his box to Dalila. Inside was a yellow sweater that Adam's mom had picked out having said something that the color would go well with her hair (Adam really didn't care for the reasons, just as long as his mom thought Dalila would like it) and a set of earrings. The earrings were long with a quaffle dangling at the end. There was a charm on them that would change colors based on the wearer's mood. They were told that the makers had gotten the idea from a muggle invention, but made it work better with the spell.

Adam thought it was brilliant.

Opening up his own gift, Adam discovered a brand new set of Exploding Snap. His own cards were old and not the most reliable. They were even getting to the point where they would explode even when he wasn't playing with them. He was sure Connor probably didn't appreciate that too much. This gift was perfect. "Thanks Dalila!" Adam chimed, kissing her on the cheek. "Merry Christmas!"

My Romeo? by Dalila

Dalila took the box from Adam but waited until he opened his present first. She received the kiss and thanks happily before opening her own present.

"Oh wow, I love it!" Dalila immediately took off her own jacket and pulled the sweater on. She twirled around, modeling for Adam. "Does it look good? It fits perfectly." Dalila said while a hint of something shiny caught her eye. She bent down to pick up the pair of earrings from the box she had thrown on the ground.

Dalila stared at them for a second before kissing Adam on the mouth. "They're beautiful. Thanks so much." She kissed him again and then pulled back to put the earrings on.

"After these, my gift doesn't seem nearly as nice." Dalila said, fingering the sweater. "But I'm glad you like it anyways. Merry Christmas."

Does that make you my Capulet? by Adam

Adam hadn't expected Dalila to pull the sweater on right then and there, but he was happy that she liked it and that it fit right. His mom definitely knew what to look for when it came to girl clothes. He tilted his head and looked mocked thoughtful as she modeled it for him. When she asked if it looked good, he made a face and a gesture with his hand to indicate it look 'okay', but the grin that immediately followed was a giveaway that he was only teasing.

Adam accepted the kisses without hesitation, still happy knowing that she enjoyed her gifts. "Technically, the sweater is from my mom." Adam confided to Dalila. "She wanted to give you something that would look nice. You're like, her daughter now." Adam said with a roll of his eyes. And it wasn't because the two of them were dating, but because Dalila was a good friend to Adam and had spent much of the summer at their house.

Adam could tell his mom liked having another female around.

"Yeah, I really do like my gift. I think Connor will like it too." Adam joked. Not that him and Connor ever spoke except for the necessary roommate greetings and such, but, sooner or later, Connor might have flipped if the cards exploded again during study time. "So, what're your plans for Midterm? Off to see your mom or just hanging out with your Grams?"

More specific, your Juliet :) by Dalila

Dalila smirked when Adam told her his mother picked it out. She should've known better.

"Well, tell you mom, thanks." Dalila glanced back to make sure the wagons weren't leaving yet. They weren't but people were loading their things into them already. She turned back to Adam.

"Oh, I never told you what I was doing for Christmas! Yeah, I'm going to see my mom. I've got a port key to her campsite in a week. I can't wait. She told me that I could actually help with things now that I'm old enough." There was a sparkled in her eyes as she said this. Dalila rarely got to go to her mother. Layla usually came to her. And to be able to work side by side with her was rare.

"And I forgot to tell you that I told my mom about us. She was thrilled. Wants to meet you even though I told her almost everything." The letter Dalila sent her mother had indeed been an entire foot, mainly about Adam with a few tidbits of school her friendships, and her family. But mostly Adam.

The sound of running behind her made Dalila turn around. "Oh crud. The wagons are leaving. I gotta get going. Have a merry Christmas, Adam!" Dalila gave her boyfriend one last kiss and, levitating her trunk, she ran off to join to que waiting to get into the wagons.
