All work and no play makes me a grouch. by Lily Collins

Lily gave the mountain of homework before her a look she usually reserved such beings as her mother or Earl. She was sick and tired of studying. It made her wonder why she had taken so many classes to begin with. Lily's reasoning was that this way, she could immerse herself further into the magical culture. In a way, it was as if she were overcompensating for life with her mother. It wasn't a normal catch-up. It was more like a burning desperation to eradicate any trace of her upbringing.

Still, she was annoyed. Lily loved the practical parts of class. However, she hated essay writing. It was a waste of time. The technical aspects weren't important, it was whether or not Lily could actually do a spell that mattered. Plus there was that whole having to do something that perversely made her not want to. It was the same bit that made her dislike things that were popular or want to ignore proper society.

The somewhat irritated fifth year pushed a Charms text aside and grabbed a slice of meatloaf. Lily was stabbing at it with her fork when someone sat down across from her and she looked up at them.\n\n

Josaih had re-printed the fliers that were to be in the Cascade Hall. He mellowed out the yellow but kept the maroon. On each one, there was still:
HEY EVERYONE!!!
Do you like doing spells? Do you like meeting new people? Do you like Professor McKindy and his totally awesome pink bubble hat? Then I think I have the deal for you! Sign the sheet below with your name and your year. We will meet one Saturday a month in the Charms Classroom, but I am willing to flex this to co-encide with band practice and quidditch. Just come, it'll let me keep my Puffskein Teppers!

He had just finished placing them everywhere in the cascade hall when it was time for food. As he saw people, he handed them fliers. Then he took a seat at a random table. And regretted it immediately. Now he usually wasn't too scared of people, but after Drake O'Leary's class, he was beginning to get scared of most people. That guy would do that to you. He buisied himself with his own meatloaf. Oh no, the girl noticed him.

"Hey," he squeaked before clearing his throat, "The name's Josiah, first year. Want a flier? Who are you? You look older, like a fourth or fifth year, umm,here," he passed the flier over to the girl. He then noticed the stack of papers by the girl, "homework?" he asked pointing at it with his fork.\n\n

As the first year began to speak, Lily raised an eyebrow. It seemed the firsties got weirder and more hyperactive every year. She personally wondered if this particular one had been drinking gallons of coffee all day.

"Lily, fifth year." She replied in a rather cool voice. Lily didn't bother to offer her last name, since Josiah hadn't. "Yes, homework. Fifth years get a lot of it." Especially if they are insane enough to take every class offered. She should probably drop something next year, since the amount of homework was leaving her more irritable and short-tempered than usual. Lily didn't know what though. She didn't have a class or teacher she particularily hated. The only thing she was one hundred percent positive about was that she was keeping Defense. She was good at it, she enjoyed it, and Professor O'Leary had grown on her. Lily thought she might keep Muggle Studies too because she rather liked Professor Williams. On the other hand, it wasn't something that she especially needed.

She picked up the flier he'd given her and read it. Lily didn't know about joining though. On the one hand, it would further serve her desire to eradicate her upbringing. On the other, it was a club started by a first year that probably nobody near her age would join. Lily would feel a bit ridiculous being the only older student in a room full of first years. Plus, joining a club went against basically everything Lily felt she stood for. Though, she reflected, that was how it would be if she was at a muggle school, Sonora was different. She was on the Quidditch team, and if she'd gone to a muggle high school, Lily wouldn't have been caught dead playing sports. Still though, she was awfully busy with homework. "I don't know..." She replied. If she went she'd have to drag one of her friends with her, so she wouldn't feel quite so bizzare. "Do you know of any other older students that would be there?"

OOC: Not a problem in the least! ^_^

IC: Josaih nodded when she gave her year and commmented on the workload. He knew from his fathers reports that the teachers didn't usually like the work either. He didn't mention that, seeing as if he did it would probably end up irritating the girl.

He blushed when she asked if there were any older years. How in the world was he to know? He only had the list for teh Teppenpaws, and that wasn't a very long list either. Two people, to be exact. "I'm trying, so that I can do some cooler spells, to get older kids. My house has only gotten two so far to join, firsties. But I asked Hyana to send one on to Caedence, a second year, and to post one in her own house, so maybe someone older will sign up?" The last seemed like a question.

"I have a few simple spells to do. One, Hikaru showed me. It is a little ball of light in your hand that you can do a bunch of stuff with. Like change color and size and brightness. It should be neat to teach. But I don't have many older students signed up. If some more show, then I could get some tougher spells. There's one that changes the color of flowers. And one makes a rock or anything really glow different colors, like a muggle light show. Neat, really, the book made it seem so." He explained in a rush. His face grew in happiness as he went. This was a great idea, he decided. He'd probably later decide otherwise, but for now it was great.

"He said there was another student he wanted to ask persanally. Professor McKindy that is. Maybe it is an older one? But there is mostly first years, hopefully a second year. Maybe more, maybe less." He summed up his previous thoughts.

OOC again: No, my other charry, the second year isn't joining, but he thinks she is. sorry it says 'sign the sheet below'. ignore that part. it doesn't exist. lol \n\n
