Keme’s Fifth year hadn’t gone as badly as he might have originally thought. Since he started at Sonora, everyone was always telling him how insane his CATS year was really going to be, but now that he was nearing the end of it, he thought it had been a pretty good year. His assignments were more difficult than he initially believed and studying was taking up much of his time, but it was all still manageable. He supposed since he didn’t receive the Prefect badge, wasn’t on the Quidditch Team, and didn’t have to worry about finding a date for the ball since Willow agreed to go with him. His experience for this year was probably different for many others. He wasn’t going to complain about anything.
His Archery club had been going well too. Over the course of the year, Keme had done his best to teach those who decided to join the differences in the equipment, what was best for what they were looking to gain from learning, how to old the equipment properly, and how to shoot. The targets were still rather close to the members, but he felt that until they could hit a bullseye without problem, it was better to stick to the basics. Those who did eventually hit a bullseye more often than not were able to move the Target back ten feet and start again. The whole process was finding a stance, finding the right bow, and learning how to train the body. After the initial instructions were given, most of the club meetings were really just everyone having an hour in front of targets and shooting.
“Hey everyone.” Keme greeted, a smile gracing his usually stoic features. “So the end of the year is finally approaching and I’m sure you are all bogged down with studying for the exams or getting ready for the Ball or whatever you do, so we’ll just make this meeting all about having fun with your shooting.” Keme advised them. The meetings were always fun for him because he loved archery so much, but he could never say for certain whether anyone else found Archery to be that thrilling. “I wanted to thank everyone for spending the year learning how to shoot a bow and arrow with me. I hope you all were able to successfully learn something while working with me.” It was difficult for Keme to say this to them, but he was thankful that they took the time to learn something that he had a passion for. Archery wasn’t something a lot of people cared about, so he was glad that some people had shown some interest in it.
“Everyone, pick a target. If you are feeling lucky, we can get you to move the target back or even have it move. “

A very enjoyable club, it must be said.
by Joella Curtis
Joella had enjoyed attending Archery Club greatly over the course of the year, perhaps more so than she had Dance Club. Keme's club had, after all, been much more proactive than the aforementioned club and therefore naturally bore the upperhand.
The busyness of Joella's midterm break had not allowed her the opportunity to show off her new skills to her sceptical father whom she had yet to surprise with the knowledge that she was actually attending an archery club. Being at Sonora also meant that she missed much of the hunting season. However, the Curtis farm in Tennessee did not really rely on seasons but instead weather and should her father and uncles feel like a day of hunting then they could easily provide the necessary game.
The fact that the eleven year old had been detained from presenting such a spectacle to her father did not disappoint her. Keme had provided several helpful instructions and tips along with essential equipment which Joella did not possess and the young Pecari was very pleased with the progress she was making. However, she did feel that extra practise time before giving a show back in Tennessee could by no means hurt.
Joella's improvement rate had been considerably steeper before the midterm break than after. Returning from her Christmas festivities she had been filled with determination to do well in those few classes she felt she was "failing" and a desire to make improvements in her Quidditch playing before the last match of the year (especially having had little time to do so over the break). It wasn't as though Joella practised her newfound archery "skills" in her own time for she didn't have the equipment but it was evident that her mind had been more focussed in the first half of the year than in the second where she had quickly become preoccupied with trying to juggle homework and extra Quidditch practices, something that the older students would no doubt find a breeze in comparison with the numerous responsibilities and tasks that they themselves had to manage.
Joella was rather disappointed to hear that today's session would be the last of the year but she knew Keme was not in his final year and therefore consoled herself with the likelihood that he may restart it next term. The Archery Club had, Joella felt, been a success after all and it would be a shame for it to end with the year.
The first year smiled at Keme's words and made a note to thank him at the end for the fun she had had as part of his club, as well as the technique she had learnt. Picking a target, Joella put this knowledge into action as she drew back on the string and took aim.
