Thaddeus looked over his notes from the Aladren Try-Outs earlier that day. He was exceedingly grateful to Jay for volunteering to play Beater. Frankly, he did not have the stomach for it, especially with not just one but both Anns planning to join Pecari's team again this year. He'd gotten lucky that Aladren hadn't played them last year. One Ann had been bad enough the first time. He suspected Andri would face a similar reluctance to injure her prevalent family members as well, and the three of them were the oldest and therefore largest options Aladren had, besides Lucian himself, so Thad was relieved Jay seemed to think he could handle it.
He decided to settle Keeper next, since the was the most definitively contested position. Andri was the more experienced, but that actually worked against her by Thad's reasoning. It meant she'd probably do better somewhere else. And if they had good enough Chasers, the ball ought not to ever make it to the Keeper anyway. So he tentatively marked down Theodore as the new Keeper and Andri as a potential Chaser to take Jay's opening. As a sixth year, she had enough size to not get bullied around the pitch the way either of the first years might when handling a Quaffle.
Francesca was also an obvious choice for Chaser, and Anthony had made a good interception as well. Leonidas had been put in the unfortunate position of playing with a bunch of older students, and it had been pretty clear - if only by size - that he was a first year.
And then there was Seeker. Anthony had made a bid for it, but Thad was captain and he'd played his least favorite position for several years now. He'd put in his dues, and hadn't even fought for Keeper this year since two other people had expressed exclusive interest in it. So Anthony was just going to have to wait like Thad had to get a preferred position. And if Thad couldn't be Keeper (which he had only wanted because David had graduated before Arnold and he'd become infamous over a flying lesson Keeper maneuver anyway), then he was going to claim his favorite spot. He was allowed this one abuse of power, wasn't he?
So only two hours after the Try-Outs closed, Thad posted the roster for this year.
