Warming up (Tag: Charlotte Spencer)
by Emrys Lucan
Emrys was nervous, he had carefully used a duplication spell he had learned while over the summer from his cousin Wesley to make two copies of the piece his mother had copied for him. Luckily the piece was for both piano and violin and so Emrys was able to breathe easy. After offering the piece to Charlotte, he realized that he hadn't checked to see if there was a piano part of not. He had remembered it being a duet but what the other instrument was he hadn't been able to remember. Thank goodness it happened to be piano otherwise he would have felt quite awkward showing up empty handed. He had just been eager to offer a piece to Charlotte that would be new and that she wouldn't have already known.
He had spent a couple hours each day that week practicing in his room when his roommate wasn't there so not as to bother him and also so that he wouldn't mess up in front of Charlotte. Emrys made a mental note to actually talk to his roommate sooner or later. He had liked talking to Emery that one day in Transfiguration even if it had only been a short time and Emery had snapped a little. On the day of the meeting, Emrys carefully combed his hair and picked out nice, clean clothes from his wardrobe so that he would look about half as presentable as Charlotte always did. He hoped he had done her hair again, he thought it looked rather adorable when she curled it as he thought it pulled her hair out of her face better. Emrys liked looking at people's faces when he talked to them and he rather liked Charlotte's as it was a friendly one- one of the friendliest faces he had seen throughout his entire time at Sonroa so far barring Dimitri Porter who always had a smile on his face.
Emrys hoped Charlotte would get there soon, he had shown up early just in case she was running early too so that it wouldn't seem like he didn't care and also because he knew that young wizards had a reputation for being late sometimes and though he knew Charlotte quite well by now after righting back and forth with her all summer, he wanted her to know that he was not someone who would ever keep her waiting. Maybe not in the romantic sense just yet (they were still young after all, he was only twelve, nearly thirteen, and she the same age) but definitely in the friend sense.
"Hi, Charlotte," he said when she walked into the room. "How has your day been so far?" He hoped he didn't appear too frazzled, he wanted their fun meeting to go smoothly and he was being extra careful with his emotion like his grandfather had begun to teach him how to do that summer when he wasn't with Wesley.

Spending time with friends had never been a popular past time with Charlotte as she had lacked the most important factor in that activity: friends. Befriending a nice lad like Emrys had surprised everyone in Charlotte’s family, her mother most of all, but it had been a pleasant surprise. Charlotte enjoyed dressing the way she had seen her mother dress for social calls. She didn’t curl her hair today, though after seeing the fine weather outside she wished she had, but dressed in a flattering pale green dress. She paid attention to how her blonde hair fell around her face, for it was her favourite attribute after all, and slipped on nude-colour flats. It was still autumn, though she pulled on a cardigan in case it was chillier. Charlotte was very glad it wasn’t a day where they had to wear their uniforms. She enjoyed looking pretty.
After checking the time, she realised she would be a bit early. Charlotte hated getting anywhere earlier than she was supposed to, wanting to either be right on time or slightly later so she wouldn’t be at a loss for what to do. Respectable witches were always supposed to be punctual, but the wizard slightly earlier. At least that’s what Charlotte believed.
It was to her pleasant surprise, however, to find Emrys had gotten there before her. Her brothers were either late or barely on time to everything and it had always annoyed her to a degree. She had assumed all lads were like them as a result and it was very refreshing to see that was not the case. Charlotte held the virtue of punctuality highly and she was glad to have found that in her one friend. It made her like him even more than she already did and smiled pleasantly at him, though she felt, as she always did meeting with anyone that was not her family, a bit shy. Small talk was not her forte and she hoped Emrys would be able to move that part along.
“Hello Emrys,” she replied. “It’s been well, thank you. And yours?” She wasn’t quite sure where to go during their talk, but decided she would rather be sitting than standing awkwardly. She went to the piano seat and looked at him, making sure he knew she wasn’t disengaged from their introductory small talk.
OOC: Many apologies for the delay!
