A Letter for Daniel Nash II by Fred, the owl
On owl waited patiently for a specific student that he had been called forward to present a letter too. Fred had been to this school once before after his owner had first taken him in. It had been his very first long distance delivery. Since then, Fred had been on many trips to many different places, but he enjoyed this place the most because he had received many treats and a home with others like him to rest awhile.Spotting the first year, Fred hooted loudly for his attention, hopping on the table he was resting on. He stretched out his leg for the letter to be taken and then stood quietly, waiting for a response (and maybe a treat). The letter presented to the boy read:
Dear Daniel,
I recently received two very contradicting letters from your parents. Your father states that you are not allowed to keep a Puffskein/Pygmy Puff due specific issues with your scheduling and possible muggles coming into contact with the creature. However, the letter I received from your mother states that you are allowed to have the Puffskein/Pygmy Puff if you would like to have one.
As these letters state that you are and you aren’t allowed a creature, I need a decision from you as to what you would like to do. Please let me know as soon as possible as to whether or not you would like to take care of a Puffskein/Pygmy Puff. My owl, Fred, will take your response back to me. If you need time to decide, send Fred off to the Owlrey. He’s young, so you might have to shoo him away if he doesn’t listen.

A Letter for Prof. K. by Daniel
Daniel had already read the two letters from both of his parents explaining what they had told Professor Kijewski in regards to the evil purple pygmy puff. Dad had done as Daniel had requested, but Mom justified herself by saying she wasn't going to forbid a responsibility she thought he was more than able to handle, and so it was up to him, not her, to decline his teacher's offer.Consequently, he was not surprised to get a letter from the CoMC teacher asking for clarification.
Holly had also already approached him, asking to see the creature and she had loved it and otherwise acted exactly as he had feared she would. It was his duty as her brother to protect her from further intellectual harm.
On the other hand, he was slightly afraid that she might somehow hurt him if he gave the puff back (through tattling, if not through physical violence). She had a fair amount of blackmail on him and she wasn't afraid to use it against him to acquire a purple brain-sucker.
So Daniel sighed and resigned himself to a mentally deficient half-sister. It wasn't like she had a lot of brains left anyway.
Professor Kijewski, he wrote back while the owl feasted on the handful of owl treats Daniel gave him while he waited for Daniel to write his response.
I'm afraid I won't be able to watch after a magical creature given my summer schedule. Even at Sonora, I don't believe I have the time to devote to a pet. My mother and half-sister have both said Holly would be willing to adopt it instead, but I don't think I should.
I apologize for my parents being contradictory. They got divorced a long time ago and have trouble coming to agreements on anything.
