Feeling sick and guilty by Hyana Kamiya

Hyana was curled up on the chair, considering whether or not she should go check on the game. She had gotten sick, and it was all because of the letter she had in her hand. It made her really faint, then the next thing she knew, she had collapsed. Stupid letter.

It was from Bryan and Emiko, but mostly Bryan. Emiko had been at the hospital. Why? Because she had some tests done...tests to see if she was pregnant...and she was! Reading that she was about to have a brother or sister was probably the thing that made her collapse. Not that anyone really needed to know. She didn't have many friends in her commons that would care anyway.

The person she needed to tell was Josiah. She was sure that, since Alexis had shown up, he wouldn't watch the Quidditch games at all anymore. But she felt way too tired to try and find him. It was better just to lie there. But, even though she felt like she was going to puke, she needed to tell someone. And she felt way to guilty to just sit there.

So when she heard footsteps, she quickly sat up, then pressed a finger to her temple. Sitting up quickly apparantly hurts when you're dizzy. Taking a deep, shaking breath, she called to the person.

"H-hey, is the Quidditch game over? What's going on? Do you know?" she was practically desperate. She had let her team down over something as stupid as a fainting spell, and that was something she could hardly believe.

Feeling worried and pessimistic by Geoffrey Layne

Geoffrey rolled up his Transfiguration homework, glaring at the open textbook as he did. He had uncordially loathed the art of Transfiguration ever since he'd started studying it, and his fourth year class and its new teacher had yet to do anything to lessen his unfriendly feelings towards it. Lena had, for a while, tried to fill Anne's shoes and assure him of his intelligence and magical ability in the aftermath of lessons, but her packed schedule was keeping her in a state of perpetual activity and ill temper, especially toward him and Anne. She seemed to think they were both being idiots.

Geoff, for his part, maintained that it all had to do with one's point of view. Excessive pride was only idiocy if it was thought to be, and he preferred to think it wasn't. It was, after all, why he and Anne weren't speaking, though it was not, as Helena had said, why he was spending the first Quidditch match of the season in the corner of the library most removed from the entrance to the Aladren commons. The reason for that came back around to Anne's other emotional issues.

He was worried about her. Part of it was habit - he'd known she came from a nuthouse for years before Mary's death made it common knowledge - but the rest came from report and his personal observations. Apart from homework, which he'd seen her sitting up late to complete on a regular basis, all she seemed to do after classes was train for and read about the noble sport of warlocks. Geoff would be the first to say he was no expert on what was normal, but that...wasn't normal. He didn't know exactly how she'd react to losing again, but he was sure it wasn't going to be pretty.

He shoved his Transfiguration book back into his bag and headed back towards the entrance to the Aladren commons. The best way to avoid getting caught up in the spectacle that was Anne after a game was to go ahead and go to his dorm before the game even ended.

Geoff had hoped to make his escape undetected, but no such luck. He had barely gotten past the book case when a voice hailed him, asking for news of the game. Looking around to detect the speaker, he was surprised to recognize the girl who had been Keeper the year before. He hadn't heard about her quitting, but she didn't appear to be injured. She did look as if she had a headache, though. Maybe that was it - Keeping required a high level of concentration, and potion fumes had given him enough headaches for him to know focus did not come easily with one.

"No idea," he said, holding up his bag as though it were proof of this. "I've been in the library all morning." A pause followed that comment as he tried to remember what her name was. Anne had liked her for some reason..."They should be wrapping up soon, though." Geoff didn't bother trying to sound less gloomy about the ending of the game than he was. He knew Hyana - he thought that was right - wasn't stupid, because stupid people weren't Sorted into Aladren. She had know how unlikely a victory against the Pecaris was.

*sigh* by Hyana

Hyana's face reddened a bit when she realized that she was speaking to Geoffrey, who used to be on the team. It was just a little awkward, attacking him with questions about Quidditch. It wasn't right. Maybe he thought she was being rude, rubbing it in or something. She wasn't, really. Still, Hyana felt that it seemed that way.

He didn't know the answer to her question, which made her feel even worse. She just needed to go out there! She was still a little dizzy though, and it would've been a really stupid idea.

"Oh...I'm sorry then...I must've interrupted your studying." she apologized quietly, not bothering to hide her upset tone. She was letting the team down. If they lost, it would be her fault. She wasn't being supportive! And he wasn't too excited for the results either. They were playing Pecari after all. They were going to win.

"I heard the Cravens worked Pecari like crazy..." she said, more to herself than to him. "It would be awesome if we won." she looked up at him, and looked away quickly. "I'm sorry, I'll leave you alone. I know how important getting schoolwork done is." She just hoped that news of the game would come through soon.
