Contemplations of Black and Blue and Quidditch
by Zack Dill
Zack Dill sat in the common room on one of the many blue couches that filled the space. He was sprawled out as far as his small frame would let him as he contemplated an issue that had bothered him since he found it out. This issue was even more disturbing at the moment because he had just return from flying lessons where he had reached the conclusion that he might have to play on the Aladren Quidditch team.
He belonged to a House that boasted black and blue for their colours.
This might be a coincidence. Blue and black, by themselves, were quite respectable colours. Quite in fact, they were his favourite two. Even together, they were aesthetically pleasing. Just look at the common room. It was very tastefully decorated in these two shades.
But put the words 'black and blue' together in a sentence that included anything related to sports such as 'house team' or 'quidditch', Zack began to get a little worried. Aladren was more known for being smart than athletic. But surely the founders weren't suggesting that the House was going to get beaten so badly that it would leave bruises, were they?
They wouldn't be that biased, would they? It wasn't prophetic or a curse or anything like that, was it? He'd seen the divination section in the library. There were people in the wizarding world actually believed in curses and prophesies and, to a lesser extent, fate. Was that what the Aladren house colours were about? No, of course that. That was just ridiculous.
But then, Zack found a lot of stuff about this world to be ridiculous.\n\n
