Charlotte had learned a lot from her older brothers as they had been growing up together. She continued to learn from Oliver while they'd both been at Sonora together - he'd helped her with some classwork she'd found tough, and he'd really shown her the ropes in Quidditch. However, the most important gem of knowledge that Charlie found particularly applicable at this moment was not to break up with someone in the cascade hall at the Opening Feast. Really, it couldn't have been more embarrassing for Oliver, and Hannah didn't come off looking too good, either. That's why Charlie had decided to break up with Dmitry in the calm, quiet common room when they both had a free period and all the younger students were in class.
Yes, she had decided to be alone again for a while. It wasn't that she had anything against Dmitry per se - he was still seriously attractive, but that wasn't enough for Charlie. They didn't have fun together like they used too, and they kept stuff from each other, that much was obvious. In Charlotte's case, she liked to think that keeping her Muggle upbringing and disgraced parents as quiet as possible was a smart move, but it wasn't exactly honest. Not that she lied about her heritage - she was pureblood - but she could have been more truthful if she'd tried. For Dmitry's part, Charlie knew there was stuff he wasn't telling her. It was fine, really, but when she added it all up together - the secrets, the not having so much fun, the fact that there were plenty more fish in the sea - Charlie found that being apart sounded like a good idea. Not necessarily for ever, and not necessarily exclusively apart, she just didn't want to be his girlfriend any more. Just now. She had always been flighty; she couldn't help who she was.
"Hey gorgeous," she said when Dmitry came into the commons. Charlie patted the seat next to her on the sofa. She hadn't considered it decent to dress up for the occasion, so she'd carefully dressed down in jeans and a black blouse, with her hair in pigtails. The other benefit of this attire was that her blouse sleeves were long, concealing the bracelet she was still wearing that Dmitry had given her. She had no intention of giving that back. "So listen," Charlie started, wasting no time. "I think I need to be on my own again for a while. I mean, we've had amazing fun, but our spark seems to be taking a vacation. What do you say?" She kept her voice light - making a scene really wasn't her thing. \r\n\r\n(OOC - fuzzy time to happen after the Tepp/Crot Quidditch game)
