Alexis stared at the ceiling. Nothing was going like it was supposed to. The opening feast obviously didn’t go well. When insulting her didn’t work, the Ladies seemed content with just ignoring her. The Quidditch Sign ups were in the commons and looking pretty empty. It was taking all Alexis had to stay away. The red head hadn’t really spoken with anyone since her Sonora return and wanted that feel of usefulness that being in Quidditch had provided.
She flipped over from her back onto her stomach. No, there was no way she was going to sign up for Quidditch. That part of her life was over. She was betrothed. It was time to grow up. She couldn’t be a child for ever. There was a point in a person’s life where they had to give up something they liked for the good of everyone else. Alexis had reached that point.
The girl grabbed her potions textbook from next to her bed. Her plan to make it through the year was lose herself in her studies. At least she’d be doing something her parents approved of. Getting back into the social life of her world was proving to be much more difficult than she had imagined. She had only had a confusing patch where she was unsure of herself. Alexis wasn’t sure how to describe it, but she was better now. Life was the way it was supposed to be. Why couldn’t she get the Ladies to understand that?
Alexis turned her head towards the door, hearing someone coming. Great, she was enjoying being alone. Of course one nice thing had to end. Putting on a happy face, not wanting to show her annoyance at her fellow roommate, Alexis sat up. “Hello.” She greeted the person. “Come to study Potions with me?”
