The sooty black owl swooped down towards the Crotalus common room. It had an urgent message and had even received an extra treat to get it there in time. It swooped in and circled above looking for the recipients of this important message.
When he spotted them, he swooped down and over to them. He dropped the letter on the head of one of the Warren twins. The girl one, because even if they were twins, the owner of the letter had only heard of the girl. Even more, the owner of the letter didn't even know that Renaye had a brother, and didn’t even know she was a twin.
After dropping the letter the owl swooped back up and back out to go and get some food from the food place. The letter would soon be opened and contained this, in small all caps letters:
DEAR RENAYE WARREN,
WELL, WE HAVEN'T REALLY MET...BUT I'VE HEARD OF YOU FROM A FRIEND WHO MET A GIRL WHO WASN'T A FAN OF YOU. OR QUIDDITCH. BUT, ANYWAIES ANYWAYS, I HEARD THAT YOU ARE A BIG FAN OF QUIDDITCH. Renaye lifted her head from the couch, blearily opening her green eyes to view the familiar common room. Josh sat beside her, doodling something on his notebook. Her guess was J.W. + L.C. in little hearts. Even in her barely-awake state (even in the first month Renaye had homework keeping her up late) the blonde girl's wheels began to turn. Beginning to stretch her arms in a yawn, Raye neared her hand to the notebook. Almost there... almost...
"Got it!" She cried, snatching the paper from his hands. Josh's blue eyes grew wide as he wildly swiped for the notebook. "Oh come on," she said, "What's the big secret?" Her eyes scanned the paper, finding only sketches of brooms and bludgers. Boring. "Aw, that's no fun. Where's the little hearts around your girlfriend's name?" She gave him a grin and handed back the notebook. Josh's cheeks tinted pink and he mumbled something incoherent.
Laurie, now that they were farther into their third year, seemed more and more like his... G-word. Nevertheless, it still seemed a little scary to bring up said word in her presence. In his mind though, Josh loved referring to her as his girlfriend. She was so lively, and sometimes adorably concerned about everything around her. Not that he had ever said that out loud. Raye would most likely do that girly squeal thing she did when she first found out about the midnight common room meeting. Josh's thoughts were interrupted, however, when an owl swooped down at his sister. Renaye jumped as a letter landed on her head and swiped at it instinctively.
"What the heck?" She said, holding out the letter. "What is this...." She tore open the letter and began to read, allowing Josh to peer over her shoulder. "So some first year wants to buy a broom off of us?"
"He's not getting mine," Josh said abruptly, his thoughts going to his beloved Flare upstairs. "We could ask Mom and Dad to send one of the old Flash brooms? It's not that bad and it's had all the kinks worked out. Plus I think we have an extra in the back shed." Renaye nodded. Her thoughts were on the opening statement: " A FRIEND WHO MET A GIRL WHO WASN'T A FAN OF YOU..." Awesome. Glad to know that the WAIL group was already starting with the bashing, despite Laurie's step towards peace. The girl let out a sigh and gave a quick look around the common room.
"So who do you think this Kendra girl is? First year, most likely." Renaye looked over to her twin. "I've never met an Aeon. How is it that people who don't even know us are asking for our services?" Josh shrugged, but didn't speak. Instead he looked over at the approaching figure.

Kendra didn't have much to do today. She had decided on staying in the common room and finishing the work she had to do, and the work she didn't have to do. She didn't really enjoy staying in the common room, but she didn't have anyone to aimlessly wander with, so she would have to do.
She was disrupted from her work by one of the older girls. She had blonde hair and had managed to grab-what was it? - A piece of paper from the boy next to her. Kendra had heard that they were twins, but she didn't know for sure. She smiled on the inside and looked back down at her work. It seemed extremely boring now. She closed her books and placed them in her extremely annoying to deal with bag. She flung down the tangled mess and huffed. It would be so hard to bring it back up to the dormitory. She decided to deal with it later.
She was once again pulled out of her reverie, by another comment from the blonde girl. An owl had recently swooped in and dropped a letter on her head, where she was currently swatting at and trying to gain control of. Kendra pondered if she did that stuff on purpose, or if she was naturally that loud. She watched as the girl and the boy read over the letter. She was just about to re-try gaining control of her own problems, the stupid bag, when she heard her name mentioned.
"So who do you think this Kendra girl is? First year, most likely." the girl said looking over to the boy. "I've never met an Aeon. How is it that people who don't even know us are asking for our services?"
It was then that Kendra realized she was walking over to the two students. She knew what they were talking about. Aeon was her friend from New York. They knew each other even before they got their letters.
Kendra also noticed that the boy had noticed her noticing of her name being mentioned. She smiled and took the last step towards them.
"Couldn't help but notice my name being said." she said. "Kendra Paully. First year. I believe you've been contacted by my friend Aeon. Or that’s what i have recently heard."
Renaye looked around as a new voice joined them. "Couldn't help but notice my name being said. Kendra Paully. First year. I believe you've been contacted by my friend Aeon. Or that’s what I have recently heard." Raye spotted the speaker; a first-year-sized girl standing in front of them. The way she spoke almost sounded formal. Renaye resisted the urge to grin over at her brother and instead gave the smile to Kendra.
"Hi Kendra," she said, "Yeah, we were just reading his letter. Word spreads fast, huh?" She gave a quick smile before becoming sarcastically seriously. She folded her hands and leaned forward, placing her elbows on her knees. "So... What sort of service can we provide you with? Are you looking for just a broom, or a top-notch speed machine?" Josh gave a tsking noise and elbowed his sister in a knock-it-off manner. Renaye gave a small sigh. "No sense of humor... Anyway, we can write home and ask our parents to get one for your friend if you want? Really, whatever you want to do is fine. Mom and Dad will probably be thrilled we're getting them some business from school!"
Renaye always found the brooms sitting at home facinating. The complex amount of charms that were used to put those babies into flight was amazing to her. If she knew how to do those charms, she would be making brooms all the time! What if she could have her own broom, something that she had put effort into making? That would be amazing... And then she could have Josh use it in the big leagues! That would be a future she could look into.
