[letter for Adam] by School Owl

Adam;

I hope that you are feeling better after some rest and that your reaction did not worsen afterwards. Please inform me if you have any more adverse reactions. Although I have done some research, I am not entirely certain as to what happened, but it could be something to do with the ear.

On that note, I would like to discuss making up the lesson that you missed. As you will probably be tested on this basic concept at some point in your schooling, it is imperative that the lesson is made up. A first year has consulted me about starting a charms club; the best course of action would probably be for you to attend.

Sincerely yours,

Professor Aaron McKindy

I wish you meant the other one. by Adam Brockert

Adam was lying on his bed when an unfamilar owl swooped down and dropped an envelope in front of him. He quickly grabbed it. He couldn't help being a little curious about its content despite himself. Granted, for all Adam knew it could be hate mail or a prank but at least it wasn't a Howler. He didn't get them. Usually the third year Crotalus just got letters from his dad, checking up on him. For some reason, Mr. Brockert seemed quite worried about Adam all of a sudden. He really didn't see why. The only think in Adam's life that changed was Kaylie being with that guy and not spending as much time with him.

His eyes scanned the first paragraph. That was nice. Professor McKindy-Adam could infer it was him by the mention of the incident that made him ill-actually was concerned about him. That was weird but it made Adam feel kind of good. Like somebody cared. He quickly read on to the second portion.

His face went pale and Adam felt like he'd been punched in the gut. He let the paper fall from his fingers and it fluttered to his bed where Peanut scuttled over and began to munch on it. It didn't matter though. Adam didn't need to keep the letter in order to remember what it said. He'd only looked at it for a moment but the contents were burned into his brain.

A club? Professor McKindy wanted him to join a club So much for being caring and compassionate! As far as Adam was concerned clubs had the right name because going to them was painful, like being hit with one. Even worse, it was like being hit by one being wielded by Lily .

He couldn't do this. He absolutely could not do this. There had to be some other way. Adam could barely go to class or eat in the Hall. He avoided group situations like the plague. (In fact, the plague sounded preferable to them.) They made him unbearably uncomfortable, and even was likely to make him hyperventilate again. He hated when that happened because it just made people dislike him more. In these situations, every move he made was under scrutiny and none were the right thing to do.

Adam took out a quill and parchment from his nightstand and wrote in a shaky script.

Professor McKindy,

Thank you for your letter. I am feeling much better.

Or he had been until he'd received this message.He scribbled on.

As far as the club goes, I really think I'd be better off just making up the lesson with just you. I have a tendency to get distracted with others around,

Because they were judging his every move and made him anxious but Adam couldn't tell him that. Professor McKindy might judge him too. Everyone thought he was a freak, hence why he wanted to avoid them.

and since I need extra help on this, I'd really rather just have your assistance. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Adam Brockert.

He quickly gave it to the owl and watched nervously as it flew away. Adam lied back on his pillows, worrying about whether or not he'd said the right thing in his letter. He could have asked someone but he didn't feel comfortable sharing how he felt with them either, or even speaking to them.\n\n

Nope, sorry by Professor McKindy [via owl]

Adam;

It's great to hear you're feeling better!

If you get distracted, then a private lesson probably is the best idea. I will send you an owl confirming the date and time after midterm, as I am sure you are anxious to finish your studies and head home for the holidays.

Sincerely,
Professor McKindy
