Jennifer Zucchero

Before school started again, Jennifer had had every intention of resigning as the Crotalus team captain. In her mind, if she couldn’t manage to catch the snitch in any game she’d played while at the school, obviously there was something wrong with her as a player. And if that was true, than she didn’t deserve to be in charge of a team.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on whose side one was taking, after spending the summer pondering it, she’d decided she might as well give it one more shot. (Not making prefect may have had something to do with it, but she didn’t like to think about that.) She’d just work in a bit more practices, try and get both herself and the team more ready, and see how things went.

With the thought of getting a head start fresh in her mind, she’d remained in the common room the night of the feast a little later, and tacked up her sign.

QUIDDITCH SIGN-UP

For all those interested in playing on the Crotalus house team in the coming year, please sign your name, year, and position below. While some priority will be given to those on the team last year, try-outs will be held before any final decision is made.

If you have any questions, or are new to the sport and aren’t sure what position would work best for you, feel free to see me at any time.

Oliver Abbott

Oliver’s attention had been drawn by the Quidditch sign up sheet on the common room notice board. Ever since he had been accepted to Sonora, Oliver had been looking forward to playing Quidditch; his parents had never let him play. They had encouraged him in soccer, baseball, swimming – in fact, practically every other sport out there, but they’d never let him play Quidditch. Here, though, they couldn’t stop him.

Reading the list of people who had already signed up, Oliver noted that almost all were older students. The fact that he was in first year coupled with the fact that priority was given to existing team members, Oliver felt his chances of making the team were slim. Still, they would be nil if he didn’t sign up.

Oliver rummaged in his back for a quill or pen. He withdrew the first writing implement that came to his grasp – a fountain pen with a chewed lid – and wrote his name in his neatest scrawl.
