Joella had been very disappointed with the outcome of Pecari's match against Aladren. It was Rupert and the Anns last ever match as part of the team and it would have been nicer to end it on a brighter note. Even so, she didn't feel as though they'd ended on a bad note. Despite not having seen any wins for Pecari so far, Joella felt as though the team had had a good couple of years with Rupert Princeton as captain and she wasn't keen on the idea of change at all concerning the Pecari team. Although Annette had been most helpful as a more experienced fellow Chaser, Joella felt as though she had Rupert to thank mostly for her improvements seeing that he was the captain. It was for this reason that she sat down in the Pecari Common Room before heading out to the Renaissance Faire to write a letter to Rupert. She had considered seeking him out in person but she made the excuse that she simply wouldn't be able to find him, knowing that the real reason was that she felt uncharacteristically bashful at the idea of approaching a seventh year (even if it was someone as nice as Rupert Princeton) and telling him how grateful she was for all the help he had given her. Yet it seemed rude to let him leave without her thanking him, and she wanted him to know that she truly was appreciative of all the work he put into the Pecari practices. Hence why Joella took the time to set down some fresh parchment and a quill at a desk and start writing.
Dear Rupert,
Thank you for being such a fantastic Captain! I have greatly enjoyed being a part of your team these past two years and have learnt a lot from you. Thank you for all the advice and guidance you have given me. You have been a great team leader and have made me feel truly part of the team.
I'm sure you know that you will be greatly missed by all of us but I hope that all goes well in your future - perhaps I'll be watching you play professionally some day?
Thank you again, and good luck!
Best wishes,
Joella x
It took a couple of attempts for Joella to actual decide what she wanted to say and she was still critical of her final letter. She had made sure to keep it fairly short and straight to the point so that Rupert didn't feel obliged to read through paragraphs of boring drivel but even as it was she wondered if there were one too many 'thank you's or perhaps not enough.
Ignoring her doubts, however, Joella sealed the letter and sent it off by owl post so that it would be waiting in Rupert's dormitory for when he returned from the fair, unless he hadn't left yet which she thought unlikely. She felt a little sad but reminded herself that the Quidditch team was just changing and was far from being over. A smile formed on her face as she thought of how wonderful it must be for Adam to be taking Rupert's old position and was certain that he would also do a brilliant job. Joella wouldn't say she was particularly close to any of her teammates, although she enjoyed practices with them and felt very attached to them all, as they were all at least two years older than herself so she didn't see a great deal of them other than on the Pitch. She did feel she perhaps knew Adam best, however, because she worked so closely with him seeing as he was a Chaser and had, like Rupert, helped her out quite a lot, especially during her first year. Even with the thought of three significant players not being present next term, Joella couldn't be completely devoid of excitement as it would mean fresh faces and another year of fun Quidditch playing and perhaps getting to know her teammates better.

When Rupert returned to the common room after a long day at the Faire, he only wanted to sleep forever. Spending a good amount of the day with Wendy had been fun, but there was so much they had to talk about. He didn't know what to expect from the future concerning their relationship. He was leaving; she was going to stay. A long-distance relationship was not ideal for either of them and Rupert was torn. Following his dreams in becoming a professional Quidditch player required sacrifice, but he hadn't realised how early on he would have to give up people that were precious to him.
Instead of torturing himself with more of those negative thoughts, Rupert tried to think of something else as he climbed up the stairs to his bedroom. All of his year-mates were witches so Rupert had been lucky to have his own room. He hadn't had the experience of living with a room-mate for seven years, but at times like these he was glad to have a room to himself where he could just lie down and not explain himself to anyone.
When he opened the door there was a sealed letter resting atop his luggage. At first his heart leapt in hope that it was from an American Quidditch team recruiting him, but when he picked it up he saw it was not addressed. It had to be from another student at Sonora. The handwriting was unfamiliar and there was no visible sign that an owl had barged its way into his room recently. It must have been waiting for him all day. He unsealed the letter and read through it carefully. By the end his eyes had filled with tears and he tried to read it a second time though the text was now blurry and the corners of his mouth were trembling.
Rupert was most in touch with his emotions out of all of his family members. He wasn't sure why or how that came about, but he did think it important to be honest to one's self. Luckily he was in a room alone. Rupert's heart felt full, and though he wiped his eyes the tears wouldn't stop. God, he would miss his team-mates. Though he was going to join another team, the people he had played alongside at Sonora would always have a special place in his heart. He'd have to say a special goodbye to Joella before he left since written words would not be enough to express how thankful he was.
