Captain Jade Owen

March 23, 2014 3:57 PM
While she had originally intended to have the sign-up sheet posted on the noticeboard the first evening back at school, directly after the Feast, she had been distracted by a number of events and conversations, and as such, she hadn't managed to finish the sign before going to bed that evening. Therefore it wasn't until the first morning of classes that the Pecari team had the opportunity of signing up to defend their title and retain their trophy.

The sheet was simple: it had a title written in large letters, in black in, that proclaimed it to be the Pecari Quidditch team sign-ups. Underneath this title was a short paragraph of text, which read: Join the reigning Quidditch champions and help us remind the other House teams they may as well not bother to show up. Go Pecari! Beneath this was the instruction for anyone interested in joining the team to add their name, yeargroup, and preferred position(s) to the sheet. Jade had demonstrated this by completing her own sign-up:

Jade Owen (Captain), 7th year, Seeker

Finally, there was a short instruction concerning the day and time at which tryouts would be held, and that anyone with questions should seek out either her or Rupert.

Content with her work, Jade pinned the sheet to the noticeboard (noting with only vague curiosity that there seemed to be more prairie elves visible than usual) in a central location before heading to Cascade Hall for her first decent breakfast in a couple of months.

Rupert Princeton

Rupert had been pleasantly surprised by the position of Assistant this year. That meant next year he would be taking over the team's leadership. It was enthralling, the opportunity, and he was looking forward to learning as much as he could from Jade, not to mention winning the Quidditch Cup yet again. He was a little disappointed at not becoming a Prefect, but it had gone to Wendy who he thought would do an excellent job of it.

When he saw Jade's sign-up sheet, her personality stood out to him even on the parchment. Rupert was pleased to see his name used in regards to any team-related questions, and underneath her name he wrote his own. Signing up was a formality, but the more names on the sheet, he hoped it would garner interest from the other younger Pecaris.

Adam Spencer

March 24, 2014 1:18 PM
The day was looking up for Adam who was looking forward to another year of school. He rather liked it here, studying and exercising the freedom to go wherever he pleased on school grounds. It was a bit too hot for his taste, of course, but one couldn't have everything. He had travelled to California and New York over the summer, but those places could not compare to being back home in London. As much as his maternal grandfather hoped at least a handful of his grandchildren would decide to reside in America, Adam was not one of them, and he secretly hoped none of his siblings would make the decision to stay. He was worried about Lily the most who was turning out to be more rambunctious and independent than any little girl he'd ever met. She would want to break away when she got older and moving to another country for school would give her the push she'd need.

That was still a long ways away; Adam would have graduated by the time Lily came to Sonora. For now, he was looking forward to seeing his mates and catching up. As he walked through the common room, the Quidditch sign-up sheet caught his eye and he paused. He knew he ought to sign up; he liked the sport, but it would take up much of his time. But it would be worth it if Pecari won the Cup again, and he liked his team-mates, the Anns in particular, even if at times he wasn't sure what they thought of him. Without any more hesitation, he dug a quill from out of his book-bag and scribbled his name down.

Liliana Bannister

March 29, 2014 12:42 AM
The morning after the feast, Liliana woke early, sleep in her eyes, not taking much notice to the house elves scurrying around. She couldn't remember if this was normal for the first day back- she knew it wasn't for everyday but perhaps? She barely remembered her first day last year as she had been so hateful towards everyone. She dressed quickly, throwing together her books and rushing downstairs to check the sign-up board for Quidditch. She was hungry but she was also determined to be the first person on sign-ups, she badly wanted to play again- her practice session with Atlas had gone nicely the night before. She was actually starting to be fond of the kid but there was no way she wanted to seem less eager for the team than he.

As she exited the common room she saw the sign-up sheet on the notice board and ran to it excitedly. Jade seemed to be quite proud of their win last year and so she should be. Liliana grinned and pulled a quill out adding her name to list after Rupert and Adam.

Liliana Bannister, 1st 2nd year, Keeper

She giggled to herself as she gleefully crossed out the "1st". She older than that now, a 2nd year, and that was a great feeling! Liliana decided to keep (pun intended) the position she had received last year as all the other students were returning other than Amira who had been Beater. Knowing this, she had worked with Atlas extra on his Beating skills, hoping that he might be able to fill the spot.

Atlas Primred, Pecari

March 29, 2014 1:20 AM
Atlas watched the sky from his bed, wondering if rain would ever fall. If the rain finally did come, maybe it would be the beginning of the school going back to normal, but he knew better than to just hope for things to happen. He looked over at his clock and saw that it was very early, and despite his multiple tries that morning, he just couldn't get himself to go back to sleep. He sat up and stretched his arms, he figured a little swim might clear his head. He got out of bed and collected his swim wear and school things. Due to the drying charm he had learned last year, he didn't have to worry about taking his suit and towel back to the dorm to dry, he could head to breakfast right afterwards. He didn't bother putting on his shoes yet. Although his hightop sneakers weren't as loud as clunkier shoes, they would still make a lot of noise. With his shoes in hand he moved silently across the dorm in his socks. He felt a little silly tip-toeing like they did in the cartoons, but as long as he was quiet no one would see how dumb he looked.

He managed to get down the stairs silently, and once free of the squeaky staircase, he walked normally to one of the nearby seats so he could finish putting on his shoes. He had just finished tucking the laces beneath his right shoe's tongue when he noticed that quidditch signups were up. In his hurry the morning before he had completely forgotten to check the board. Quickly he grabbed a quill and headed over to the signup sheet. "Shoot," he said quietly under his breath. He hoped it hadn't been up for too long, Liliana had already signed up too. He saw were she accidentally wrote that she was a first year and chuckled a little. He never took her for an especially ditzy person.

He wrote his name on the list making sure to learn from Liliana's mistake and write the correct year, Atlas Primred, 2nd year . He then paused for a moment, looking at the list. He had to write his preferred position, yet he never had a position last year, unless you count 'alternate' as a position, which Atlas definitely did not. He wondered what he should write. He could keep it blank, but then what if Jade saw it as he wasn't confident in his skills, which in truth he wasn't. Liliana had him practice a few different positions when they practiced the other day, but he still wasn't sure if he would be good enough for the team, especially Jade's team, but since Amira had graduated they would need another beater. He wondered if it was okay for himself to be so forward about stating a position like that. He took a breath and scribbled lightly, beater .

He looked at it and thought about crossing it out for a moment, even though he knew the damage was already done. He looked at the clock and realized his indecision was cutting into his swim time. He accepted his action and hoped the swimming would not only clear his head, but also relax his nerves a little.

OOC: Permission to talk about Liliana was given by her author.
