Welcome to Sonora Tour by Clara Abernathy
Clara liked the new girl right away and wanted to help her find her way around the school. When Bonnie said she could start the tour with her favorite place, Clara immediately thought of the Gardens that surrounded Pecari Commons. She loved all the twists and turns and all the cool little things that seemed to pop up in there when you least expected it. Besides, it wasn’t everyday that you found a place like the Labyrinth Gardens in the middle of the Arizona desert. Clara told Bonnie to meet her in the Common room and they would begin their tour of the school from there. When she found the younger girl seated on one of the couches in the common room she walked over to her. “Hey Bonnie,” she greeted her cheerfully. “Are you ready for the grand tour?” she asked. Once she had gotten confirmation from Bonnie she started with the common room. “Okay our tour begins with the common room. As you can see it has big fluffy chairs and couches to sit on…there are tables with lamps around the room if you want to read or study. Our bulletin board is over here and all the announcements for stuff go up on here. You can also find announcements on the board in Cascade Hall as well,” she told her in her best tour guide voice. “Our next stop is the Gardens,” she told Bonnie linking arms with the younger Pecari and led her out of the room.She pointed out the suit of armor that acted as the door for their common room and reminded her that they had a new password every week that she would have to remember to get back into their common room. Once the armor was back in its place she took Bonnie on a short walk through the gardens. Clara told her that there were other creatures that lived within the maze and around it so she needed to be careful. She moved them away from the Gardens and into the building. She showed her again where Cascade Hall was, reminding Bonnie that that was where the students took all of their meals and where they gathered for special occasions. Clara pointed out the message board in the hall so Bonnie could check it whenever she wished. Their next stop on the tour was the Library. Clara pushed open the door with one hand and led Bonnie inside. “This is our Library,” she told her letting go of Bonnie’s arm so she could have a proper look around. “Any books for classes can be found here along with just books in general to read. We don’t presently have a Librarian so volunteers like myself can be found in here helping students who need books check them out and putting them away when they’re done with them. There’s plenty of room on the sign up sheet over there on the board if you’d like to volunteer as well,” she pointed out the board to Bonnie where the sign-up sheet was located.
Once she finished with the Library, Clara moved them next to the MARS rooms. “These are the MARS rooms,” she explained, opening each door one at a time so Bonnie could see the insides. “They’re used for all kinds of things. We have a sports room where you can practice playing just about any sport you want,” she told her opening that door. “There’s a music room where you can practice playing music if you play an instrument or where you can learn to play one if you wish,” she opened that door next. She showed Bonnie the instruments and the baby grand piano that sat towards the back. There were talking portraits in the room that acted as instructors should the need arise. She then moved to the Art room. “This ones’ the Art room where you can draw, paint play with clay…the whole lot.” she then moved on to the dancing room. “This one is the Dancing room. You can use it to practice dancing or to learn it. Again the portraits in here are a big help if you need them.” She moved them to the last room. “This has got to be the coolest room of all,” she gushed pushing open the door and leading the younger Pecari inside. “Welcome to the Water room. This room can produce just about any and every body of water you can think of. It was used at the beginning of the term for a wicked pool party complete with water slides and snack carts.” She led Bonnie out of the room and down towards the classrooms. She stopped in front of each one pointing them out as they passed each one. She stopped in front of the new teacher’s room and pointed that one out as well. “This is the Muggle Studies classroom where our new teacher will be teaching. You have to be a third year to take that class though,” she added.
Clara led Bonnie from the classrooms out to the Quidditch Pitch. “This monster here is the Quidditch Pitch. First flying lessons take place out here with Coach Pierce as do our Quidditch games. I’m hoping that this year not only will we take the house cup again, like last year, but that we can add the Quidditch cup to that as well,” she winked at the other girl. She gestured for Bonnie to follow her and led the girl to the last stop on the tour, The Hospital Wing. Clara pushed open the semi familiar doors and showed Bonnie around the Hospital Wing. “This is the Hospital Wing here at Sonora. Medic Bailey takes care of everyone who ends up here for whatever reason and believe me there are some boring and interesting ways to end up here,” she told Bonnie, her mind trailing back to one of the few trips she made here in the last three years. “Medic Bailey’s office is just over there,” she pointed to the door over in the corner, “And he’s usually in unless he’s over at Teppenpaw Commons. He’s their head of house so he moves back and forth.” She led Bonnie out of the hospital and back down to Cascade Hall. She pushed open the door leading inside and waited til Bonnie was inside as well before she finished her tour guide speech. “We have now come to the end of our Sonora Academy tour. We hope you have enjoyed yourself and that the tour guide wasn’t all that annoying,” she grinned big at Bonnie. “Please feel free to ask any questions you like, ditch me completely or join me for some muchly needed grub as our walk around the school has made me tremendously hungry.” She gestured towards one of the tables and waited for Bonnie to make her choice. Whichever way she chose to go Clara still had a good time.
