Honey looked upon her opened trunk in disbelief. Reaching inside she pulled out a single Manolo Blahnik boot. Seriously? All that was inside her trunk were shoes and more shoes. “Mother,” she said with more than a little annoyance. So, where were her books? Her blue eyes drifted over to the other piles of bags. She hadn’t given them a second glance when she had entered the room, assuming that they belonged to her roommates, but they were awfully close to her bed.
Groaning, she picked up one of the bags and threw it on her bed. Ripping open the suitcase, an mutter of utterances began, including, “Unbelievable” and “Some nerve,” as she pulled out a variety of skirts in a multitude of colors. In another bag, there were several pairs of pants and one even dedicated to jewelry and makeup. How in the world had she even managed this? Then, it dawned on her. Heaven. Her sister must have agreed to take the extra luggage and she hadn’t even noticed!
After the room began to look like a cyclone had hit it, she finally found her schoolbooks. Unfortunately, it also seemed that the clothes that she had packed were gone. Sigh. She stared at the wardrobe that she had received for Christmas courtesy of her mother. She had stated that it was time that Honey began dressing more to her stature rather than some lowly muggle. Fine. If that’s how she wanted it, then that’s how she was going to have it. She began breaking up the clothing into groups, which required using her roommates’ beds. Hopefully, they wouldn’t mind too much.
Honey pulled out her wand and tapped it along the side of her face, as she willed some sudden inspiration to strike her. There wasn’t much she could do with the shoes, but maybe she could cut the dresses to make tops and use the skirts to layer with the jeans that she hadn’t taken home? Oh, yes, that could work! She clapped her hands together in excitement, eager to get started. There was no way she would be able to get through all of the clothing tonight, so she started sifting through the clothing to figure out an outfit for tomorrow.
She had just laid out a black dress, a pink dress, and a pair of jeans to work with and was about to start shoving the rest of the clothes wherever she could when she heard the door open. “Oh, sorry, sorry!” She apologized. “I was trying to clean everything up.” She hurriedly tried to grab bigger bundles of clothes and threw them on the floor near her bed. “How was your midterm?”

The second term of Sonora, Wendy had decided, was the best so far. The first term, she had been nervous, a little homesick, and far too busy following her sister around to make sense of anything. Now she felt more confident to be on her own and not get lost trying to get to class. Even getting to the common room was getting easier now, and she was proud when she found it on her own. She took a little time sitting there on the couch, basking in the familiarity of it all, and then decided she'd probably better unpack or something. It was still hard for Wendy's mind to wrap around the fact that her stuff just whooshed off to her room without her even needing to carry it all.
She walked up the stairs, watching as her foot ascended each stone step, imagining she was walking up the stairs of her own castle, to a tower like in Rapunzel or something. Sometimes it was hard to pick out which part of Wendy's reality was actually real and which was a dream. She was surprised when she nearly ran into the door to her dorm room and then gravelly opened the door as if she was expecting a dragon to pop out at her.
Instead of a dragon, she saw her roommate sitting in the middle of clothes. It really was like a tornado of clothing had hit their room. Clothes were everywhere, and Wendy was a little taken aback by it. She had never seen these many articles of clothing at once except in a department store. And even then they were all hung neatly on racks. Her family was pretty well off. Her dad made good money as a mechanical engineer and her mom was from a wealthy family in North Carolina. Still, she had never had a lot of clothes just because her mom said it wasn’t worth it since she was growing fast, and it wasn’t like their apartment could hold too much since they lived right above her mom’s bakery.
Honey (Wendy had once gushed to her about how awesome that name was) apologized quickly and tried to move things. It looked like she had been concentrating on doing something with the clothes that were lying neatly on the floor. The question Honey had asked went unnoticed as Wendy stared at the piles. “You have a lot of clothes!” she said, hazel eyes wide. “What’re you going to do with those?” She pointed at the dresses and jeans. Then her roommate’s question registered and Wendy’s eyes brightened. “My midterm? It was great! I had a lot of fun back home being with my family and telling them all about everything. And I got a charm bracelet.” She lifted up her wrist where the bracelet was dangling. She only had a snowflake on it since she got it for Christmas. She got toys too, but those she’d had to leave at home, sadly.
“Do you want me to help you clean up at all?” Wendy asked, bounding over and trying not to knock any piles of clothes over. Though Wendy didn’t like cleaning, she didn’t want her other roommates to come in and see clothes everywhere. There were a whole lot of clothes. Besides, she could pretend she was Snow White or something. “How was your midterm?” she asked as she crouched down next to Honey, looking at the dresses and jeans she was still wondering what Honey was going to do with them.
