Welcome to Pecari! (HoH speech cont'd)
by Professor Levy
With such a tiny group, Erika didn’t have to worry about the normal Pecari tendencies of straying, which she couldn’t blame them since there was always so much to see, and with only an occasional ‘Please keep up’ or ‘Come along,’ she was able to keep up a nice pace through the Labyrinth Gardens until they came upon a hedge near a suit of armor. In total, it had only taken a few minutes to reach the statue since it was located close to the entrance of the Gardens. Being that the trip was so short, she hoped that none of them would get lost coming and going. However, it was still best to say something. “If you ever find yourself unable to find your way in or out of the dorm, feel free to ask one of the older Pecari students, which by the way no one outside of your House should ever be told where the entrance is. Another big no-no is telling anyone other than another Pecari the password, which for this week is Dancing Boggarts. To enter, simply tell the password to the suit here.”
Once the password was uttered, the suit of armor jumped out of the way to reveal the entrance. “Hurry inside,” she said, waving them in. After the last student was in, the entrance sealed itself. “Welcome to Pecari Common room,” Erika announced, moving to the center of a comfortable looking room done in brown and gold. There was various seating around the room along with a few tables here and there allowing the students to use the space to relax, play games, and even occasionally study. “This will be your home for the next seven years and with a little luck, the people will become like a second family.” She wished that was always the case, but as always, life could take some unexpected turns. After all, she had never dreamed that she would be teaching at a school and having children when all she had ever thought about was becoming an Auror. Though, she wished she could have continued in the field, she no longer regretted what had happened since this way she was able to spend more time with her babies than stuck somewhere on a mission.
Continuing on, she gestured towards another area of the room. “Over here is the bulletin board, which you should check weekly, if not daily. Here, you will find the new password posted on Saturday of each week. The password will be in effect Sunday through Saturday. You will also come to find a various assortment of announcements here. For anyone interested in Quidditch, Captain Demelza Eagle should be putting up the try-out sheet soon. If you have any questions regarding the sport, please feel free to ask her or her Assistant Captain, Sophie Jamison. Other people to note are the Pecari Prefects, Nina Brockert, Sophia Randolph, and Sara Raines, as they are here to help you along with the Head Boy, Raines Bradley, and Head Girl, Rachel Bauer.” There were certainly a lot of names to remember and she hoped she hadn’t overwhelmed them by all of them. Smiling at the students, she said, “And of course, I am also here if you need anything. “My office is over there and it connects to my office in the Defense Against the Dark Arts room, so I can be here in a snap.”
“Up the stairs are the boys’ and girls’ dormitories. If you try to go down the wrong hallways, you will be deposited back here, so it’s not even worth trying. Curfew is at ten. If you fail to be in, the punishment will be severe. Follow the rules,” she mentally added, as closely as you can, “listen to your professors, and you’ll do just fine. Any questions? If not, I’ll let everyone get situated, as I’m sure it’s been quite a long day.”
OOC: It is not necessary to reply to this post unless you wish to. However, you may now begin posting on the other boards. Please remember that your character does not have access to other common rooms. Also, be sure to follow the posting rules. Have fun!

Clara followed Professor Levy after the Opening Feast and the sorting. Her face, along with a few others, were still a dark shade of brown. The Headmistress had said the potion would wear off and Clara hoped it would be very soon. While she didn't mind the strange color on her skin for a limited amount of time she wasn't sure it would look good with her strawberry blond hair and sapphire blue eyes forever. They continued to follow the Professor until they reach the suit and were instructed on how to use the password. Clara followed the rest of her new housemates into the Pecari Common Room. She listened half intently to Professor Levy explaining where the dormitories were, but found that her attention was a bit scattered at the moment. She was thinking back to the sorting and how she had seen her cousins at their houses tables before she joined her cousin Amira at the Pecari table. Clara could tell her cousin Mir was excited to see her and equally excited that they would be in the same house. Clara smiled to herself as she thought about the two of them sitting together at dinner chatting. It made being in this strange place feel a little less strange knowing she had family near by should she need them. Clara glanced around the common room memorizing as best she could the position of every chair. She did the same at home as well, she liked to know where any potential obstacles sat. As she glanced around she noticed that there appeared to be only first years in the common room. She wondered if her cousin was upstairs in the dorm already or if she was someplace else. She also wondered which one of the beds upstairs would be assigned to her. By this point in time she was also wondering what had happened to the trunk of clothes she had arrived with. She shrugged briefly, her unkempt hair bouncing slightly, reminding herself that the nice professors at the school would not allow her to walk around in the buff as it were. Once Professor Levy finished with her welcome speech Clara made her way curiously up the stairs leading to the girls' dorm. She walked through the door and glanced around in surprise. The dorm was larger than she had expected. She made her way unerringly to the bed that would belong to her for the next seven years and was a little startled to find her belongings had been left on and by the bed. She spent the night unpacking her stuff from the trunk and before she cuddled under her covers for the night she placed the framed picture of her mother from her room at home by her new bed. "Goodnight mom", she whispered to the photo. "That was new huh?"
OOC: I have gotten permission to slightly godmod the Thornton girls from their author.
