Head of House Speech (continued...) by HoH Professor Levy
Walking through the Labyrinth Gardens, she led the students this way and that until they came upon a hedge near to a suit of armor. It had only taken a couple of minutes total to reach. She hoped that since the trip was so short not many, if any, would get lost when they had to come back on their own the next time. Hmm. Well, just in case, she better say something. “If you get lost, feel free to ask any of the older Pecari students. Now is a good time to tell you that no one outside of your House should ever be told where the entrance is. Another big no-no is telling anyone other than another Pecari the password, which for this week is Earwax Jelly Beans. To enter, simply tell the password to the suit here.”After she said the password to the suit of armor, the hedge moved to reveal the entrance to Pecari. “Hurry inside,” she said, waving them in. After the last student had stepped through, she followed into a room that had comfortable seating along with a few tables here and there. All in all, it had a very homey feel to it. “Welcome to Pecari Common room. As I mentioned earlier, this will be your home for the next seven years and with a little luck, the people will become a second family to you.” She wished that she could have said that her experience had been just that, but it hadn’t. Of course, while life had taken some unexpected turns it had lead her to Torra and she couldn’t ask for more.
Continuing on, she gestured towards another area that held a bulletin board. “Here is where you will find the new password each week. Look for it on Sundays. Also, announcements will be posted, such as Quidditch sign-ups, which it looks like the Captain has already posted. The Captain for Pecari team is also our Head Boy, Jose Hernandez. If you have any questions either Quidditch related or otherwise, feel free to ask him or one of the other prefects – Nina Brockert and Sophia Randolph. You may also ask me. My office is over there and it connects with my office in the Defense Against the Dark Arts room, which by the way is the class I teach.”
“Up the stairs are the boys’ and girls’ dormitories. If you try to go into the wrong hallway, you will be deposited back here. So, don’t try it. Curfew is at ten. If you fail to be in, the punishment will be severe. Follow the rules,” mentally adding, as close as you can, ”you’ll do just fine. Any questions? If not, I’ll let everyone get situated.”
