It hadn't been easy to pick a team, because although all the first years had been decent, none of them had been especially brilliant. There was always the chance they would pick up before the first game - Elly intended to hold several practises before then - but it wasn't the Dream Team she'd imagined running when she'd been a small(ish) second year and boasted to the Santoro twins that she'd be captain one day. Plus Mike Song hadn't shown his face, even though Elly had given him meaningful stares as they'd passed in the corridor, she hadn't managed to corner him and make him join the team. Then with Jose's fear of heights... it was a wonder if they'd make it through the first game. Elly sighed, she wanted to have faith in her team, and she did, on some level. They all just looked so small.
Still, as Elly finished writing up the team list and carried it down to pin on the noticeboard, she reminded herself that she had been new on the team once. A tiny second year with no flying experience, and she'd still managed to perform okay. Now she was the best Seeker in the school (in her humble opinion, anyway, though Teppenpaw's captain was giving her a good run for her money). Yeah, no problems! The Pecari team would be as awesome as it ever had been! These kids had more enthusiasm for Quidditch than the entire Aladren and Crotalus Houses put together!
Her fears and worries gone, at least for the time being, Elly grinned as she pinned the completed list to the noticeboard.
